A survey on aesthetic perceptions of images of Buddha

Hello everyone,

I think this should be interesting for you all, and may spark off some debate. Firstly, I am submitting a survey here on behalf of a friend. It is entitled "A questionnaire study into the aesthetic feelings of Easterners and Westerners towards Buddha images." He is a graduate student at National Taiwan Normal University's Graduate Institute of Design.

Survey is at link below. You can just use colour to highlight your choices, and send to the email address provided.

I also think it would be interesting to get people's thoughts on why they responded the way they did. For example, the survey asks what you think of the images, and whether they have any resonance with your beliefs or not. As well as filling in the survey and sending in, please discuss below!

Thanks,

Yiyuan.

I think a simple image of an annonymous person meditating would be the best... simply because Sidartha (sp?) was no different to anyone else... he just woke up.

I find the questionaire rather... dull.

How much more is there to say when I state that I don't feel anything from images of Buddha? Buddha lives on in his teachings, not in his images, IMO.
