What music do you listen to? and what intruments do you play?

I wasn't going through all seventy-somthing pages to find this so I made a new one, if there ever was one. well I listen to Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, AC/DC, The Beatles, and a little Van Halen plus a couple songs from U2, cream, Steely Dan, Gun's and Roses, and Queen. I play Guitar, I have a 1955 Gibson J-45 and a Fender High-way strat, and soon I will have a Gibson Les Paul Classic. Alot of people at my school listen to stupid rap, which realy isn't music, they ask me why I listen to all that old stuff, and then people that are older cant believe that I listen to that stuff and I'm only 15.And if theres any Pink Floyd fan out there that like the band Wish you were here, I have seen them at the House of Blues, my dads friend plays precussion. I got back stage.

I listen to classical music and rap( :p ) mostly, though I enjoy some Pink Floyd, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, and Bob Dylan among others.

Edit: Oh yea, I play the vocal chords.

I play the French Horn! Woohoo!! And I plunk around on the piano occasionally. I'm also in Steel Band at my school (steel pan, in case you couldn't deduce that).

I listen to classical music as well (no rap though :-D), oldies (I LOVE THE BEATLES), rock, alternative, etc... listing the cds I have would give you a better clue, as I have random things I listen to (I have a gospel CD!) but that would take too long....

Ugh, yeah, this is like the fifth (at least) thread of this.

But anyway...I listen to everything, and I sing.

I usually listen to Japanese music. I'm such a sucker for J-pop/rock. :p I also love music with very high-pitched singers, like the kind associated with churches and whatnot. I've never really been able to find any songs with singing like that, though.

I really love most songs in a language other than English. There's something about listening to just the voice without needing to translate that's appealing to me.

I used to play the flute a few years ago, but I don't remember too much of how to play it.

Jensa, I'm gonna assume you have the "Cowboy BeBop" soundtrack memorized, then? :)

I like Bare Naked Ladies, Beatles, Bob Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel, and... Well, a whole bunch of stuff.

I had started playing the bagpipe when I was 16. You begin by playing the chanter, the little part where your fingers go, before then moving on to the pipes themselves. I only got as far as the chanter before we had to move.

I 'play' the zills (not sure if that's the right spelling), which goes nicely when I belly dance, which I've done since I was 14. I also love tribal drumming, especially Native American sacred drumming.

I knew a couple guys who formed a band called "Free Beer, and Naked Women."

Needless to say when the bar would put that on their board, they got ALOT of customers. :D

On the serious side, I listen to everything but rap, country, and r&b. I love Symphonic music, movie scores are my favorite. I also like punk, hard rock, classic rock, death metal, progressive rock (dream theater rocks!!! Go Portnoy!!!) I also like dance music, like techno and trance... I am starting to learn break dancing so thats fun.

Ummm... I am a percussionist, so I play anything I can hit. When I played in my band, I played an acoustic set, and I also play the bongos, and believe it or not, I dabbled in the xylophone. I wasn't very good at it though. :D

I listen to almost anything and everything. Really. My cd holder thing has the biggest variety of music I've seen anywhere XD. I like anything from Middle Ages/Renaissance to heavy metal and country. My all-time favorite, however, is Baroque. <3<3

And I play violin and piano. Been playing violin for over 12 years now, and just kinda taught myself piano. I'm not in an orchestra this year...it's the first time in eight years I haven't been in one. I've played in Carnegie Hall and high school auditoriums. I'd love to learn Baroque violin and harpsichord.

But I think my /favorite/ instrument is bassoon. :} And I love brass quartets/quintets/whatever.

I like listening to 60s and 70s rock and jazz. Some of my favorite artists are Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, Frank Zappa, Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell, Richard Thompson, The Doors, The Beatles, Todd Rundgren/Utopia/The Nazz, Syd Barrett/Pink Floyd, Miles Davis, and the Modern Jazz Quartet.

I listen to 70's and early 80's punk and that's pretty much it with a little old school Rock N Roll thrown in the side. I list some of the bands I listen to but chances are most of the people here have never heard of them. Even self-professed "punks" go "huh?" when I mention the bands I'm into, so usually, there's just no point. (Though I do think Carrdero would probably give me run for my money on that)

I play a little Bass and the piano.

LOL, "No" hehe. I listen to Liturgical Hymns too bro, as they are acoustically emblasened in my cerebral cortex from years of repeating. "and the father will dance, as on the day of joy...."
"though the mountains may fall and the hills turn to dust, yet the love of the lord, will stand..."

anyway....I play bass, been playing for about 18 years, guitar a little longer, played ina band that was almost signed, but you know that story. :) I LOVE john Paul Jones (Led Zep) FLEA, James Jamerson, Bootsy Collins, Geddy Lee, JACO PASTORIUS. These guys are BASS guitar personified!!! Hey folks, whats the dealio with dissin rap? While I am an old school metal head from the 80's...not that "poison/warrant" stuff....Im talking Dio, Iron maiden, Anthrax, Metallica (of old) VH (DLR days)......good old fashioned, GRRRRRR, you know. :)

I dig all kinds of music now, back then it was akin to the Dem vs Rep in Politics with Metal vs Nonmetal then, "POSERS" remember that!! I miss those days. Today, I love all kinds of music, Rock is always the forefront for me. Classic rock, Southern Rock, Blues, Metal, (cant get into thrash too much, you can't understand what going on) FUNK rules, Disco......(remember Im a bass player :))

I don't know...it all fascinates me...I understand people being turned of by some of the lyrics in rap or the sampling, but it does groove!!
