October 13, 2004: According to folklore, October's full moon is called the "Hunter's Moon" or sometimes the "Blood Moon." It gets its name from hunters who tracked and killed their prey by autumn moonlight, stockpiling food for the winter ahead. You can picture them: silent figures padding through the forest, the moon overhead, pale as a corpse, its cold light betraying the creatures of the wood.

What makes the eclipsed moon turn red? The answer lies inside Earth's shadow:
Our planet casts a long shadow. It starts on the ground--Step outside at night. You're in Earth's shadow. Think about it!--and it stretches almost a million miles into space, far enough to reach the moon.
Suppose you had a personal spaceship. Here's your mission: Tonight, at midnight, blast off and fly down the middle of Earth's shadow. Keep going until you're about 200,000 miles above Earth, almost to the moon. Now turn around and look down. The view from your cockpit window is Earth's nightside, the dark half of our planet opposite the sun. But it's not completely dark! All around Earth's limb, the atmosphere glows red.
What you're seeing is every sunrise and sunset on Earth--all at once. This ring of light shines into Earth's shadow, breaking the utter darkness you might expect to find there. Turn off the cockpit lights. There's a lovely red glow.

White light from the Sun is a mixture of all the colors of the rainbow. When a ray of "white" sunlight passes at grazing incidence through Earth's atmosphere, molecules and aerosols in the air scatter blue light in all directions (this is why the sky is blue). The remaining reddish light is bent (refracted) into Earth's umbral shadow zone, giving the eclipsed Moon a coppery glow. Image credit: Tony Phillips.

Eclipses in the Bible:

It is written:

“Isaiah 13:10 - For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.

Joel 2:10 - The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining:

Joel 3:15 – The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining.

Matthew 24:29 - "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken;

Mark 13:24 - "But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light,”

It is interesting to note that the Bible knows about eclipses – Solar and Lunar, and, it is written:

“Joel 2:31 - The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the LORD come.

Acts 2:20 - the sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood, before the day of the Lord comes, the great and manifest day.

Revelation 6:12 - When he opened the sixth seal, I looked, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood,”,

the Bible also knows about a red moon eclipse.

Now going to Acts 2:20, and also in a similar fashion, Joel 2:31, it is written:

“The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and notable day of the Lord come:”

Let us take a closer look at this.

Given from the passage:

Sun + Moon + Earth = Solar Eclipse (The Sun shall be turned into darkness)
SEDiagram1c.JPG

http://www.mreclipse.com/Special/SEprimer.html

Sun + Earth + Moon = Lunar Eclipse – The red type. (The Moon into blood)
LEDiagram1c.JPG

http://www.mreclipse.com/Special/LEprimer.html

The Bible passage above states that there will be a solar eclipse and there will be a Lunar Red Eclipse happening all at once. But, how could this be? There cannot be a Solar eclipse and a Red Lunar Eclipse happening at once. When a solar eclipse occurs, the Sun will be totally blocked by the moon, and to produce the Red Lunar Eclipse, the Sun should be behind Earth

So, going in this sequence, we have:

Sun + Moon + Earth = Solar Eclipse, but the Moon = Red?? Error #1.
2ijjf7

Let say I understood it in a wrong way, let say it happens in sequence, first, a Solar Eclipse, and then several months later, a Red Lunar Eclipse. Now, we all know that Solar, Lunar, Red Lunar eclipses has been happening since eon, going to countless cycles. Reading the Bible passage above, one will seriously doubt. Error #2.

Let us take another look then:

Sun + Moon + Earth = Solar Eclipse, Let us solve for X.

Therefore:

Sun + Moon + Earth + X = Solar Eclipse + Red Moon

2ijjhl

Now, the only way a red moon (or blood moon) in this sequence could happen, is by having another extremely bright light source, behind Earth, so that the correct sequence follows:

Sun + Moon + Earth + Extremely bright light Source = Solar Eclipse + Red Moon

So, where could this extremely bright light comes from?

Going to the Bible, we have:

Matthew 17:1-2 And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain apart. And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his garments became white as light

John 1:7 - He came for testimony, to bear witness to the light, that all might believe through him.

John 8:12 - Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

Acts 9:3 - Now as he journeyed he approached Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven flashed about him.

Acts 22:11 - And when I could not see because of the brightness of that light, I was led by the hand by those who were with me, and came into Damascus.

Acts 26:13 - At midday, O king, I saw on the way a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, shining round me and those who journeyed with me.

1 Timothy 6:16 - who alone has immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has ever seen or can see. To him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen.

Revelation 21:23 - And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine upon it, for the glory of God is its light, and its lamp is the Lamb.

Revelation 22:5 - And night shall be no more; they need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they shall reign for ever and ever.

Now, going back to Acts 2:20, and Joel 2:31:

“The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and notable day of the Lord come:”

Solving for X:

Sun + Moon + Earth + X = Solar Eclipse + Red Moon

Therefore : X= The Lord

Sun + Moon + Earth + Jesus Christ = Solar Eclipse + Red Moon

Without doubt, Jesus Christ is that “Extremely Bright Light Source”

Revelation 22:12-13

“And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last”

Glory be His name! Praise the Lord! Praise God Almighty!

I hope he doesn't come down to earth, then he would blind us all... Not to mention I wouldn't be able to get enough sleep...

I like the pictures.

But has there ever been a blood moon during a solar eclipse? Also, wouldn't this extremely bright light pretty much blind the side of the earth that isn't facing the sun? Why is only one side of the earth permitted to see the blood moon eclipse?

It's a nice notion, but fails on too many aspects...

It is written:

2 Peter 3

3 First of all you must understand this, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own passions 4 and saying, "Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things have continued as they were from the beginning of creation." 5 They deliberately ignore this fact, that by the word of God heavens existed long ago, and an earth formed out of water and by means of water, 6 through which the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished.

There's never ever been a blood moon during a solar eclipse. This will only be a one-time event on Christ's coming.

As for the side that isn't facing the eclipsed sun, their fate is sealed:

It is written:

2 Thessalonians 2

8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

I hope I'm on the side facing the eclipse... sucks for everyone else. I hope it's not the next solar eclipse, Oct. 3rd, because It'll be on the other side of America :/ Come to think of it, America won't see one for a while. (Maybe you don't live in the states though...)

It is written:

Matthew 24:

36 "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.

I do not know when it will happen, either. The passages can only tell things preceding his coming but never "when".

It is written:

Matthew 24:

42 Watch therefore, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. 43 But know this, that if the householder had known in what part of the *night the thief was coming, he would have watched and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 Therefore you also must be ready; for the Son of man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

This we know, as explained and illustrated. We know what part of the night, that is, which *eclipse it will be, when there will be a Solar Eclipse followed
by a Red Lunar Eclipse (Red Solunar). So, we will keep on watching, praying, preparing, for we do not know when it will happen.

48 But if that wicked servant says to himself, 'My master is delayed,' 49 and begins to beat his fellow servants, and eats and drinks with the drunken, 50 the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know, 51 and will punish him, and put him with the hypocrites; there men will weep and gnash their teeth.

Matthew 25:13

Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.

Looking at the Map below (example), eclipses at different side of the Earth at different time zones. At 180W and end 60W, there’s no eclipse being witnessed, but the majority of the world will know about this and news will spread because they will be dumbfounded as they will witness a Solar Eclipse and a Red Moon eclipse occuring at the same time.

It is written:

Revelation 1:7

Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, every one who pierced him; and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.

Matthew 24:30

then will appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory;

As the Earth turns, every eye will see Him – The brightness of His coming. The Red "Solunar" (solar eclipse+lunar eclipse) will only be a sign in heaven, which is as written, "the sign of the Son of man".

Genesis 1

It is written:

14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: 15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so
