the word on the street

This is a book written by Rob Lacey. It is a funny funny book. It is a bible with a lower case b. He took parts of the Bible and put it into street language. And it is great. He says that it is "for those who've never read the Bible, and for those who've read it too much."

"Something out of nothing (Genesis 1:1-2:3)
1-2
First off nothing....but God. No light, no time, no substance, no matter. Second off God says the word and WHAP! Stuff everywhere! The cosmos in chaos: no shape, no form, no function -- just darkness...total. And floating about it all, God's Holy Spirit, ready to play."

That is just the beginning, (literally!) :)
I love it, If you get a chance to read it, DO! :)

kind of reminds me of that book "god is for real, man", a retelling of the bible in "hippie slang". anyone heard of that?

Those both sound great :D Or at least, they sound like things I would absolutely adore.

I remember teaching my kids the Lord's Prayer; once a week we would say it in words the kids could get to grips with - at least they knew what they were saying!:)

Speaking of funny books, anyone ever read any of the horrible history series. Its hilarious, it shows the grosser side to history, as well as being really funny about it.
