Oh, sorry. My post was in response to Raka, not you. Will Smith is an actor who has also rapped on the side during his career.

He was a rapper first. That's how he got his start. He's always been a rapper. He branched into other things.

Ever seen Bad Boys, for example? And all of those things you said about him... you would have to actually know him to make those claims. I have no beef with Will Smith. I've actually been a fan of his ever since he was on Fresh Prince. I own several of his films. He's a great actor and a mediocre rapper who is better than most that I've seen of Hollywood. I just wouldn't consider him a Christian based on the lyrics of that song.

Ok, so in Bad boys, as per the script for the type of film they were, he may have said some cuss words. The vast majority of his films the most vile thing out of his mouth is usually a "damn" and you get no more than that in his music as well.

And whether or not you "consider him a Christian" doesn't mean hooey. Shoot, that's exactly the kind of stuff he's talking about in the song. Who are you to judge anyone else's beliefs and their relationship with whatever god they believe in?

Judging is both useful and necessary. The Bible even tells us the earmarks of our brothers and sisters in Christ, explaining exactly how we can recognize them. In fact, isn't Mr. Smith judging his ex throughout the entire song? Will Smith seems, purely from the lyrics of this song and what I know about him from his career, to be a lukewarm Christian that has bought into the disease that is cultural Christianity prevalent in the US of A (among other places).

"bought into the disease that is cultural Christianity"???

I find this amazing. If a person is guilty of judging and condemning others all in the name of religion and one points it out then suddenly it is they who are so dang guilty. Transference plain and simple. He is referring to people who are judgemental and preaching to others without tolerance for others' beliefs. The spoken part at the end of the song is the main sum up of the whole point of the song. Perhaps you should read it again, because...he's right.

edit: just to add here, as for him being a "lukewarm christian"...I don't know...I think he's pretty hot myself! :flirt:
