Ghostdog's questions on Islam

Interesting thoughts....Apparently the true Islamic should pray and wash five times a day in ritualistic fashion to be clean before God .

Fascinating what the word Islam actualy means *Surrender* but to what I ask myself when you look at the practices that are taking place today.

I would like to here what you feel is the truth around the word religion and what it would actually mean in day to day living with my fellow man and woman despite their colour, race, creed or religion.
I Have an interesting piece for you to read about this subject..let me know what u think..here is a quote from J krishnamurti on religion in general.

My apologies for anyone who i confused, i am still in the process of working out were to talk about what :bonk: Anyway heres the quote....

Is a religious life possible in this modern world? Which does not mean becoming a monk or joining an organized group of monks. We will be able to find out for ourselves what is really, truly, a religious life only when we understand what religions actually are and put aside all that, and not belong to any religion, to any organized religion, to any guru, and not have any psychological or so-called spiritual authority. There is no spiritual authority whatsoever. That is one of the crimes that we have committed - we have invented the mediator between truth and ourselves.

So you begin to inquire into what is religion, and in the very process of that inquiry you are living a religious life, not at the end of it. In the very process of looking, watching, discussing, doubting, questioning, and having no belief or faith, you are already living a religious life

Correct, surrender is what Islam means, although your only one fifth of the way there. Islam means:
Surrender
Submission
Obedience
Sincerity
Peace

You asked "to what", well that would be to Allah. Surrender to the will of Allah, Submission to the will of Allah, Obedience to the will of Allah, Sincerity in your surrender submission and obedience to the will of Allah, and finally Peace with Allah. Islam doesn't mean peace like "peace in the Middle East" as people often say, it's peace between you and Allah. Peace in your surrender, submission, obedience, and sincerity to Allah's will. Although it would be nice to have peace in the Middle East I can assure you that you're not going to have peace there or anywhere if you don't first have peace with Allah.

Thanks for the info,
May I ask what you feel is the will of Allah and how can you tell if it is real or not ?
Also may i ask you what is meant by submission and to what in your living experience do you submit to ?
Thanks

Well, let me start off by saying that Islam isn't just a religion it's a complete way of life. For every aspect of life there is something that Islam has to say about it. In Islam we get our info from the Qur'an and the Sunnah (which are the sayings and examples of the Prophet Muhammad [pbuh]). As far as knowing whether or not it's for real, there are lots of ways that the scholars and authorities, on Islam, have of telling what is authentic and what is not.

Submission, means submission to the will of Allah, as I mentioned above.

Yes that was clear from quran but I was asking you about how it effects you in your own personal life and how you can tell, not out of a book but in your living experience.

We can listen all day to the so called scholers and proffessors but what about me and you who are just normal every day people..what about us ?
Doesnt the prophet teach man and women to be a light unto themselves or are they ensalved into a tradition of following.
I suppose its a bit like the Jesus story...he went against the system to free the people from dogma thats why i feel they crucified him.
I would like to here more of how muhammid lived in his every day life ?

I'm a bit confused but I'm guessing you are asking how Islam effects my daily life. Well thats a tough question. I would say that my daily life is a struggle to try and live according to the teachings of the Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). I don't think I completely understand your question but I hope that helps.

Well thats a very vast topic maybe if you ask about something a little more specific I could try and help you out.
