I saw this movie night before last..I dont even know what the name of it was..It was in french so I had to read subtitles..

It was sadistic..I was sick to my stomach and horrified after it was over..These two weirdos entered a couples home..a man and his wife and son...tortured them for days..eventually shot the little boy in the head blowing his brains all over the wall(after making his mother strip down nude in front of everyone)...made the wife chose wether her husband (who they had broken his leg and his arm days prior) should die by being stabbed to death or go easy on him and shoot him..she could not give the order of death by mercy (being shot) so while she delayed the order they stabbed him about 10 times and then shot him anyway..Then they took her out on the lake with her hands taped behind her back and feet binded and tumped her over into the water and paddled off..The whole time they acted like they were just at a picnic..Eating and talking and acting like everything was normal..

Then ...the two guys went to another house ..rang the doorbell..and smiled at the lady that answered...then the movie ended...

JESUS CAMP
YouTube/ Color/ 84 Mins./ PG-13/ 2006
Jesus Camp follows several young children as they prepare to attend a summer camp where the kids will get their daily dose of evangelical Christianity. Becky Fischer works at the camp, which is named Kids on Fire. Through interviews with Fischer, the children, and others, Jesus Camp illustrates the unswerving belief of the faithful. A housewife and homeschooling mother tells her son that creationism has all the answers. Footage from inside the camp shows young children weeping and wailing as they promise to stop their sinning. Child after child is driven to tears. Juxtapose these scenes with clips from a more moderate Christian radio host (who is appalled by such tactics), and Jesus Camp seems to pose a clear question: are these children being brainwashed?

Eerie...

Depends Upon My Mood..
Was this movie Funny Games?

I asked my husband he said he thinks so..And it wasnt in French it was in German..I didnt see it from the beginning but the premise of the movie was all these guys wanted when they came to the door was to "borrow 4 eggs"..It was set in the coutry side..Like a vacation type town.

Anyway I guess the couple wasnt to friendly to these strangers about the eggs or someting like that so these guys decided they were inhospitible and or rude..They just wanted an apology..

At one point after 'accidentally " blowing the little boys head off they actually left the house.Apparently there was only few houses in this country/vacation setting that had a phone..He (the husband ) couldnt walk being his leg was broken..She reluctantly left him there and was running down this country road to get help.(deep in the night)...She saw a car coming and ducked and hid thinking it was them..Realizing it wasnt when the car passed she jumped up and tried to flag the car down..Another car approached and she decided to flag this one down..And YOU guessed it...It was those sadist..They brought her back to the house..And continued with their "games".

Anyway Red Pill..I kept thinking I should stop watching this..But they kept leading on like at the very least the mother/wife was going to get away...These guys kept giving them choices and ultimatums to let them live..And then in fact like I said left the house at one point..Even after they killed the husband and took her out on the boat..(it was dawn by then)..I kept thinking she was going to get to live..Even after they dumped her in the water(alive but tied up)..I kept thinking she would somehow get to the bank of the lake..and take some sort of heroic avengence on them for the killing of her husband and son..But she drowned..I was seriously shocked..Even knowing how evil they were already that they went ahead and killed her..

Anyway at the end of the movie..they knocked on the door of one of the neighbors..When the lady anwered the door..He asked her if he could "borrow four eggs"...

I think their "moral" was if you were nice to them..they would be nice to you..otherwise they would just have to teach you a lesson in manners..

The thing so eerie about it was their demeanor..they were very calm and "pleasant" and quite polite in manner of speach..they were methodical and "reasonable"..

Through the Looking Glass
I watched "The Golden Compass" last night. It was much better than the reviews seemed to indicate. Intriguing story, great cast of actors, well-written and excellent visuals. Overall a very good fantasy that translates nicely to film. Sadly, with its box office performance, it seems unlikely that we'll see the rest of the story at the theaters.

This movie is great. It's full of great fun for all ages, including lots of jokes for the non-kiddies in the audience. The Wolf's character for example is a take off on one of Chevy Chase's best roles.

Kal-El's Mama
Once is a 2007Irishmusical film written and directed by John Carney. Set in Dublin, this naturalistic drama stars musicians Glen Hansard (of popular Irish rock band The Frames) and Markéta Irglová as struggling musicians. Collaborators prior to making the film, Hansard and Irglová composed and performed all but one of the original songs in the movie.

If you are into music, this would be a great movie to watch if you haven't seen it already. One of my favorite songs from the movie is: If You Want Me sung by Markéta Irglová.

Another movie I saw was calledREC . I had to watch it with subtitles. After that was Ratatouille.

SICKO
DVD/ Color/ 103 Mins./ PG-13/ 2007
Documentary look at health care in the United States as provided by profit-oriented health maintenance organizations (HMOs) compared to free, universal care in Canada, the U.K., and France. Moore contrasts U.S. media reports on Canadian care with the experiences of Canadians in hospitals and clinics there. He interviews patients and doctors in the U.K. about cost, quality, and salaries. He examines why Nixon promoted HMOs in 1971, and why the Clintons' reform effort failed in the 1990s. He talks to U.S. ex-pats in Paris about French services, and he takes three 9/11 clean-up volunteers, who developed respiratory problems, to Cuba for care. He asks of Americans, "Who are we?"

I am wondering if I watch BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE then watch SICKO if I can make a correlation between the countries with lower murder rates to better health care.

Meet the Spartans.

Watched about one minute of the beginning, then skipped two chapters ahead (something I've never done to a movie I've never seen), watched almost another minute before I turned it off.

Grabbed it on a whim desperate for a comedy to watch. American film makers have lost all sense of what is comedy. Good thing I found a copy of Delicatessan.

Just A Friendly Reminder.....That the Drive-Inn Movies are now open!!! Grab the family and visit your local drive-inn and enjoy a movie the way it was intended to be enjoyed-outside, with nature.
What local drive-in? We haven't had an active drive-in around here in many years.

mrscardero and I were going to revisit the drive-in Fair Oaks (about 22 miles from Modena) but since it has been two years since the last time we went, someone suggested we call to find out if it was still open. I would like to bring back the drive-in experience and purchase a closed drive in, I would fix it up and show cult and grindhouse films.

Watched David Lynch's Lost Highway last night and I had the same reaction as I did with Blue Velvet.

"What the hell just happened? Did I even like this? Actually, yes, I do like it! But, what the hell exactly happened?"

Kung Fu Panda
Drive-In/ Color/ 79 Mins./ PG-13/ 2008
A CG-animated comedy about a lazy, irreverent slacker panda, Po, who must somehow become a Kung Fu Master in order to save the Valley of Peace from a villainous snow leopard, Tai Lung. Set in the legendary world of ancient China, this is the story of Po, our unlikely hero, who enters the rigid world of Kung Fu and turning it upside down. Po ultimately becomes a Kung Fu hero by learning that if he believes in himself, he can do anything.

Though these animated films can become somewhat formulaic, the animation was inspiring and far exceeds anything that I have seen coming out from Pixar or other animation studios. Kung Fu Panda had a lot of essential nods to martial art films, this was a delight to watch.
