Looking for a Swell Bible

So does anyone know a good "reformed" version of the Bible? One that speaks in plain ol' English and is ugh... "reformed"? Because I'm sick of the norm bibles like NIV, KJV etc...

So ANY suggestions!?

My friend owns a copy of "American Standard Version" and we've used it to cross reference Scripture and have found it useful. Check it out...

Well, I happen to know for a fact that Willie Nelson uses the ESV.

The Contemporary English Version is easy to comprehend, but I get the impression that in making it easy-to-read, they sometimes slightly change (or at least lose nuance) of the meaning of the text. It might make a good one to use if you cross-reference it with a more accurate translation.

He does. The paper rolls much tighter and burns smoother.

I actually know a Southern Baptist pastor that used the pages of a Bible to roll joints.

Sounds like he found Jesus.

Actually, I think that his wife and kids left him and he's an alcoholic.

What do you mean by a "reformed" version of the Bible?

I normally use a hebrew/greek interlinear for reading and it helps one to learn the greek and hebrew at the same time.
This is a very good interlinear though it uses the Wescott Hort Ms depending how deep you want to get into the Bible. [I am a newbie on this forum so I can't post links yet]

Scripture4all

[I also would like to know if anyone here is an expert in the Koine biblical greek]

2 of my favorites versions are Rotherham's [which is fairly literal] and Young LT.

I myself use the modern translation the Complete Jewish Bible, which uses a translation of the Tanakh (or, "Old Testament") based on the Masoretic text and JPS translations, and translates the extant Greek manuscripts for the Messianic Writings (or, "New Testament"). However, I wouldn't recommend it for non-Jews - the translation is specifically geared toward a Jewish cultural background (including common Yiddish/"Yinglish") terms in places where they translate in better than a truly English word.
