Why don't Christians live what they preach?

I don't need telling, I am well aware of my limitations.

Christians have come to see themselves as stuck in sin so they don't try to avoid it, they praise God they can still go to heaven because 'Jesus died for their sins... If you just believe in Jesus you will go to heaven too!'

Following the example of Godliness has been lost by and large.
Then they haven't read their Bible because it clearly states that we will be judged by what we do. It's not just enough to believe in Jesus. Satan believes in Jesus but it won't gain him salvation.

If we truly have repented, and believe that Christ died for our sins and that we are saved through his sacrifice and God's grace then our lives will be full of works showing that change. If they continue on in their old ways, continuing to sin, then they did not truly believe and put their faith In Christ. It doesn't mean we won't sin at all...but no we can't just go on our merry way.

Too many people make assumptions about what they THINK we should believe, instead of cracking open our Owner's manual. I think it was Ben Franklin that said every thinking man ought to read the entire Bible twice.

Be honest with yourselves. either you are saved, or not saved. Any in between, and you are neither hot nor cold, you are a hypocrite, and God has spoken that he hates that. Bearing the title of a Christian, or saying that I am a Christian, does not make you one. Many people just do the "go to church on Sunday thing" and this results in many from the outside seeing them as not living what they preach. Look, People, to call yourself a Christian, you have to accept God first and change your ways..not just say that I am one. I have failed God in many, many ways...(but, I always had the sense to bury my pride, to not hide in myself and say that I am something that no matter what I say, God knows I am not), and say God, I know I am not what I should be, but, give me the time to get myself back on track, back to what you would have me to be.

A believer is righteous according to the Word of God through the faith in Jesus Christ. I John 1:7 says "walk in the light, as God is in the light" to maintain the fellowship, not the relationship, of a son. Sonship cannot be challenged because it is dependent upon God and his finished work in Christ Jesus. But fellowship depends upon ones walk before God. However that fellowship, or walk, is dependent upon the correct input of knowledge of the truth in the mind and acting on it. Since there are 2500 plus denominations of Christianity the truth is scattered about, debated, watered down and over all hard to find. The search for it has become an adventure of itself. Forces of opposition understand that this "fellowship" is dependant on the correct interpretations, teachings, etc.. and these forces have done a good job of obscuring and twisting it perhaps deleting some of it. In doing so it limits the believer and his correct way to do his walk. The Church sure isn't as powerful as it was in the first century. It is because the Gospel was in a more pure form. And it is why the return of Christ is needed.
