A Question for fellow Christians.

Le plongeur avec attitude...
Sorry you don't have any faith in my honor Kat, but let's look at these, shall we? I fully understand if you don't wish to discuss it any further and will honor your wishes if you so ask.

Hebrews 5:4 No one takes this honor upon himself; he must be called by God, just as Aaron was. 5 So Christ also did not take upon himself the glory of becoming a high priest. But God said to him, NIV

A reference to becoming a Hight Priest. Not applicable.

Exodus 28:1, 41
Deuteronomy 34:9
Numbers 27:18-23

All these are OT scriptures and we are in the NT times. Unless there is something in them that you want to highlight.

1 Timothy 4:14 Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through a prophetic message when the body of elders laid their hands on you. NIV

I don't see how this applies either.

2 Timothy 1:6 For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. NIV

Gifts were often given to men of God through the laying on of hands. That does not stop us from being the Priests indicated by I Peter.

Mark 13:34 It's like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with his assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch. NIV

??? Maybe a typo in the reference?

Matthew 10:1 He called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out evil spirits and to heal every disease and sickness. NIV

Again, nothing disallowing all Christians to be a part of that Royal Priesthood.

Acts 8:14 When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them. 15 When they arrived, they prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit, 16 because the Holy Spirit had not yet come upon any of them; they had simply been baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. 17 Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit. NIV

I have no idea why they had not received the Holy Spirit with Baptism and the scriptures do not tell us why. Perhaps they were over concerned with the outward signs of the Spirit, and not the seal (I Cor 12-14)??? Still, there seems to be no indication that the rank and file Christian is NOT a part of the BODY of Christ and a priest because of that.

Acts 19:13 Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were demon-possessed. They would say, "In the name of Jesus, whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out." 14 Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. 15 (One day) the evil spirit answered them, "Jesus I know, and I know about Paul, but who are you?" 16T hen the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding. NIV

Interesting, but I fail to see how this relates to all Christians being priests as indicated twice in I Peter. Jesus is the ONLY High Priest we will ever need, and we are a part of his order. Just read the entire book of Hebrews to get an idea how he made the perfect sacrifice as the only perfect High Priest.
