The kingdom of God

Revelation 21:1-5 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God [is] with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, [and be] their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

What would it be like to have the pain from so many bad memories removed?

Like a lobotomy? My memories (including the "painful" ones) are a part of "me." I try not to distance myself from my memories, but rather embrace that they are there, and understand what effect they have on me (with mixed results). Forgiveness is not forgetfulness. And grace is not judgment.

The "Kingdom of God" is all around, but people do not see it. :rainbow1:

As the OP says, the pain will be removed, not the memories. The memories will be intact, but they won't have the power to hinder us any longer.

I think painful memories must be a part of everyone, perhaps some more than others. These verses dosn't say the memory will be gone, but the sorrow from it will. For a Christian pain in sorrow is accepted, but understood to be only a passing thing.
