Do (some) Muslims think that it is ok to blow oneself up on a bus or at a club full of people in order to exact revenge for the Iraeli occupation?

"suicide and the killing of innocent people goes against the Qur’an and Islam"

this statement is so true BUT the Palestine case is a different case instead bombers in Palestine are considered to be martyrs
I'm going to define martyrs for you in the Islamic point of view off course

In Islam, a real martyr can be identified only by God; because it is possible in the case of a person who apparently goes out to fight for the noblest of causes to lose his faith in the cause just before he dies; or it can happen that he wishes for death for an unacceptable reason, perhaps just before he dies. In such a case he is not a martyr. But to the world or even to those who are close to him, he may seem to be a martyr.

Also from the Islamic point of view, a person who fights for saving the life of his brother, unjustly attacked, and dies in that cause is a martyr. Any person, who fights for regaining his birthright to his homeland and dies in that cause is a martyr, as well.

You may ridicule it as a fight for “real estate”. But again, if someone fights for his hard earned real estate (I mean “real” real estate) to save it from a marauder and dies in the process, he is a martyr, no doubt.

In all these cases the necessary condition is that he is ready to sacrifice the most precious of his possessions, his life, for the sake of a cause, which is noble from the Islamic point of view. That is, justice, truth, freedom etc. The man who fights to save his rightfully earned property from a robber is fighting for justice, for truth.

I wonder why people cannot understand the nobility and the height of sacrifice achieved by a young teenager who is on the threshold of life, but decides to throw away life like a worthless trifle.

This is especially surprising when so much is heard about the way the Only Son of God who courted death for the sake of saving the world! Of course the Son of God is God Himself and He could have avoided the sacrifice; He could have simply forgiven mankind, His own children. But Christian theologians never tire of explaining to us the Great Love of Christ in that sacrifice! That is the story of the Son of God (in Palestine, surprisingly), not the story of some raw young boy or girl in modern Palestine.

As people who know something of human psychology, we understand that people love life and not death. Then why do these young people seem to love death, more than the modern sybarites love wine? What is suicide bombing to the media, can be a last ditch fighting tactic adopted by the desperate boy who saw his younger sister or brother blown to pieces by the missiles fired from sophisticated warplanes.

It is the media that makes a person into “a suicide terrorist” or a war hero who sacrifices his life for his homeland. I have read British and American poems glorifying those who died fighting for their homeland. But to their enemies the same heroes were probably “terrorists”. Yet, the word was not used in the past; it is a modern coinage.

I have one question for you I don't need you to answer it here just think about it

imagine that you have a murdered father and two brothers in jail and also that your land(house and farm and everything) has been distroyed by israeli forces, and you have four choices to make one is to wait for your turn to die the second is to go on the streets and throw rocks and third to use old gun or rifle that can't even kill one (remember that your enemy has very developed weapons) would you go to a police check and ask them if they allow you to kill one of them be4 you die !!!!!!!!
or fourth to hide some C4 and try to break into a settlement to kill as many as you can for your family ??

please don't listen to the media Israelies keep killing and killing but no one even asked about the palestinians all the zionist media care about is the "supposed innocent israelies"

bombers try to avoid children and old people even though they are as responsibe as the others for settling into others land and not even caring about their life.

Please put yourself in their shoes be4 judging them. I can't blame you

all I can blame is the zionist media :(

God bless all who look for the truth

From the Qur’anic point of view, Man is the khalifah (vicegerent) of God on earth and everything here has been created for him. This means that Allah has given Man certain abilities to act here as His ambassador. These gifts of Man will be useless unless he has freedom, so God has given him freedom too. Yet, it is within limits, as human abilities too are limited.

It is clearly stated in the Qur’an that life on earth is a testing ground for Man. And we know that any test requires that the tested should have the freedom to act on their own initiative. Otherwise, there is no meaning in such tests.

As the chief faculty of Man is his reason, he can use it to good purpose. He can study the world around him as well as assess his own potential and scope of action. On that basis, Man strives to achieve the objectives and goals he visualizes.

Allah (swt) says in Surah 99, verses 7 - 8:
*{Whoever has done an atom's weight of good shall get its reward and whoever has done an atom's weight of evil shall meet with its consequences.}*

Also in Surah 53, verse 39:
*{Man shall have nothing but what he strives for.}*

Everything is accounted for, and nothing is wasted in God’s scheme of things. Allah (swt) in His infinite mercy has given Man guidance too. This is to help him use his freedom and faculties to his own benefit and live a meaningful life here.

Allah wants Man to use the freedom He has given in accordance with His guidance. This means that the scope and potential of Man’s freedom is within the framework of God’s jurisdiction and control. For this reason, we may say that Man is not a master of his fate; nor is he a mere cog in the wheel of destiny.

God says in Surah 13, verse 11:
*{Allah will never change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves.}*

So ‘taqdir’ used in the Qur’an does not signify that Man is deprived of free will. It stands for the latent possibilities Allah has invested in the nature of things. It also signifies God’s grand design of creation as well as His foreknowledge; but it does not imply that human beings have been completely deprived of freedom of will or action.

For this reason, Man’s freedom of will - if he ignores divine guidance - can lead him to do wrong things. That exactly is the reason why we need divine guidance; to keep ourselves upright and steady in times of extreme trials.

Thus, from the Islamic point of view, it is our willful choice of those actions from our inherent possibilities, that are in harmony with God’s will that earns us our reward from Him. Our efforts should always be to see that our choices and actions are in agreement with God’s guidance.

arabian knight-- Thank you for being so straightforward and informative. I understand where you're coming from, and I sympathize with the plight of the Palestinians, as all they want is their freedom. I would not ridicule it as a fight for real estate at all.

The problem I see is that there are some things that are wrong, no matter what the circumstance. It is one thing to understand/sympathize with what would drive a man to blow himself up and kill a bunch of innocent men women and children, but it is quite another to excuse that behavior.

Here is an example of what I mean. Some American agencies have been accused of using torture on suspected terrorists to find out information on possible future terrorists plots. The information they find could save thousands of innocent lives. However, torture is wrong, no matter what--there are no good excuses for it ever, in my view, even if it is 'for a good cause'. Do you see what I'm saying?

Do you think suicide bombings are excusable, or just understandable?

I have a question how exactly did the Qur’an come to their faith i know it says that an angel of God dictated it to them. But what i am asking is, that i heard someone say that Muhammud <-Spelling sry if misspelled, climbed into the heavens and recieved it. Is this true or not?

Thank a_k, good answer. So when Muslims say "If Allah wills it", they don't mean if Allah lets them do it (as is, interfering with human free will) but just regarding the surroundings?

Mr_Spinkles

it depends on the case in some cases it's excusable and in others it's understandable.

it can be excusable if the deaths are mostly soldiers

even though I think that you don't know how the israeli population is made,
over 14 are mostly soldiers ex. sharon him self started his terrorist career when he was 14

No the Prophit PBUH didn't climb into the heavens to get the holy Qur'an it's as you said first an Angle of God dictated it to him (Jebreel)

peace on

if you want the history of the Holy Qur'an I'll be happy to present it

just ask :)

Alaric

You are absolutly correct Allah doesn't enterfere with human's free will even thought he knows what the person is going to do ?

but it's us(Humans) who make the decision so we can't blame God for the mistakes that we make

peace on

By the name of God most Gracious most mercyful

The Quran is the pure word of God. Not one word therein is not divine. Not a single word has been deleted from its text. The Book has been handed down to our age in its complete and original form since the time of Prophet Muhammad. From the time the Book began to be revealed, the Holy Prophet had dictated its text to the scribes. Whenever some Divine Message was revealed, the Holy Prophet would call a scribe and dictate its words to him. The written text was then read out to the Holy Prophet, who, having satisfied himself that the scribe has committed no error of recording, would put the manuscript in safe custody. The Holy Prophet used to instruct the scribe about the sequence in which a revealed message was to be placed in a particular Surah (chapter). In this manner, the Holy Prophet continued to arrange the text of the Quran in systematic order till the end of the chain of revelations. Again, it was ordained from the beginning of Islam that a recitation of the Holy Quran must be an integral part of worship. Hence the illustrious Companions would commit the Divine verses to memory as soon as they were revealed. Many of them learned the whole text and a far larger number had memorized different portions of it.

Method of preservations of the Quran during the Prophet's time
Besides, those of the Companions (pbut) who were literate used to keep a written record of several portions of the Holy Qur'an. In this manner, the text of the Holy Qur'an had been preserved in four different ways during the lifetime of the Holy Prophet (PBUH):

The Holy Prophet (PBUH) had the whole text of the Divine Messages from the beginning to the end committed to writing by the scribes of revelations.
Many of the Companions learned the whole text of the Qur'an, every syllable of it, by heart.
All the illustrious Companions, without an exception, had memorized at least some portions of the Holy Qur'an, for the simple reason that it was obligatory for them to recite it during worship. An estimate of the number of the illustrious Companions may be obtained from the fact that one hundred and forty thousands Companions had participated in the Last Pilgrimage performed by the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
A considerable number of the literate Companions kept a private record of the text of the Qur'an and satisfied themselves as to the purity of their record by reading it out to the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

Method of preservations of the Quran after the demise of the Prophet
It is an incontrovertible historical truth that the text of the Holy Qur'an extant today is, syllable for syllable, exactly the same as the Holy Prophet (PBUH) had offered to the world as the Word of God. After the demise of the Holy Prophet, the first Caliph Hadhrat Abu Bakr (PBUH) assembled all the Huffaz and the written records of the Holy Qur'an and with their help had the whole text written in Book form. In the time of Hadhrat 'Uthman (PBUH) copies of this original version were made and officially dispatched to the Capitals of the Islamic World. Two Of these copies exist in the world today, one in Istanbul and the other in Tashkent. Whosoever is so inclined may compare any printed text of the Holy Qur'an with those two copies, he shall find no variation. And how can one expect any discrepancy, when there have existed several million Huffaz in every generation since the time of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and in our own time? Should anyone alter a syllable of the original text of the Qur'an, these Huffaz would at once expose the mistake. In the last century, an Institute of Munich University in Germany collected FORTY-TWO THOUSAND copies of the Holy Qur'an including manuscripts and printed texts produced in each period in the various parts of the Islamic World. Research work was carried out on these texts for half a century, at the end of which the researchers concluded that apart from copying mistakes, there was no discrepancy in the text of these forty-two thousand copies, even though they belonged to the period between the 1st Century Hijra to 14th Century Hijra and had been procured from all parts of the world. This Institute, alas! perished in the bombing attacks on Germany during World War II, but the findings of its research project survived. Another point that must be kept in view is that the word in which the Qur'an was revealed is a living language in our own time. It is still current as the mother tongue of about a hundred million people from Iraq to Morocco. In the non-Arab world too, hundreds of thousands of people study and teach this language.

The grammar of the Arabic language, its lexicon, its phonetic system and its phraseology, have remained intact for fourteen hundred years.

A modern Arabic-speaking person can comprehend the Holy Qur'an with as much proficiency as did the Arabs of fourteen centuries ago. This, then, is an important attribute of Muhammad (PBUH), which is shared by no other Prophet or Leader of Religion. The Book which God revealed to Him for the guidance of mankind is today's in its original language without the slightest alteration in its vocabulary.

This is taken from part of a speech "Message of Prophet's (saw) Seerah", given by Syed Abul 'Aala Muadoodi. He compares the history and authenticity of three scriptures, Torah, Injeel and Quran.

description( In the Islamic view off course) and challenge

The ultimate manifestation of God's grace for man, the ultimate wisdom, and the ultimate beauty of expression: in short, the word of God. This is how the German scholar, Muhammad Asad, once described the Qur'an. If one were to ask any Muslim to depict it, most likely they would offer similar words. The Qur'an, to the Muslim, is the irrefutable, inimitable Word of God. It was revealed by God Almighty, through the instrument of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). The Prophet (pbuh) himself had no role in authoring the Qur'an, he was merely a human secretary, repeating the dictates of the Divine Creator:
"He (Muhammad) does not speak of his own desire. It is no less than an Inspiration sent down to him." [53:3-4]

The Qur'an was revealed in Arabic, to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), over a period of twenty-three years. It is composed in a style so unique, that it cannot be deemed either poetry or prose, but somehow a mixture of both. The Qur'an is inimitable; it cannot be simulated or copied, and God Almighty challenges mankind to pursue such an endeavor if he thinks he can:

"Or do they say he forged it? Say: Bring then a chapter like unto it, and call
(to your aid) anyone you can, beside God, if it be you speak the truth." [10:38].

The Quran's language is indeed sublime, its recitation moving, as one non-Muslim scholar noted, it was like ³the cadence of my heartbeat². Due to its unique style of language, the Qur'an is not only highly readable, but also relatively easy to remember. This latter aspect has played an important role not only in the Quran's preservation, but in the spiritual life of Muslims as well. God Himself declares,

"And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember; then is there anyone that will receive admonition?" [54:17]

One of the most important characteristics of the Qur'an is that it remains today, the only holy book which has never changed; it has remained free from any and all adulterations. Sir William Muir noted, "There is probably in the world no other book which has remained (fourteen) centuries with so pure a text." The Qur'an was written down during the lifetime and under the supervision of the Prophet, who himself was illiterate, and it was canonized shortly after his death by a rigorous method which scrutinized both written and oral traditions. Thus its authenticity is unblemished, and is its preservation is seen as the fulfillment of God's promise:

"We have, without doubt, sent down the Message, and We will assuredly guard it from corruption." [15:9]

The Qur'an is a book which provides the human being the spiritual and intellectual nourishment he/she craves. Its major themes include the oneness of God, the purpose of human existence, faith and God-consciousness, the Hereafter and its significance. The Qur'an also lays a heavy emphasis upon reason and understanding. In these spheres of human understanding, the Qur'an goes beyond just satisfying the human intellect; it causes one to reflect on implications. There are Qur'anic challenges and prophecies. One of the most exciting fields in recent years has been the discovery that, of the significant amount of scientific information in the Qur'an, including the event of the Big Bang, embryological data, and other information concerning astronomy biology, etc., there is not a single statement that has not been borne out by modern discoveries In short, the Qur'an fulfills the heart, the soul, and the mind.

Perhaps the best description of the Qur'an was given by Ali, the cousin of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) when he expounded upon it as,

"The Book of God. In it is the record of what was before you, the judgment of what is among you, and the prophecies of what will come after you. It is decisive, not a case for levity. Whoever is a tyrant and ignores the Qur'an will be destroyed by God. Whoever seeks guidance from other than it will be misguided. The Qur'an is the unbreakable bond of connection with God; it is the remembrance full of wisdom and the straight path. The Qur'an does not become distorted by tongues. nor can it be deviated by caprices; it never dulls from repeated study; scholars will always want more of it. The wonders of the Qur'an are never ending. Whoever speaks from it will speak the truth, whoever rules with it will be just, and whoever holds fast to it will be guided to the straight path."
[Al-Tirmidhi]

Hey does the larger muslim society ever condemn attacks on innocent people?

First off, the muslim 'society' if you will is not 1 cohesive body. It ranges from all parts of the globe. There is an organization called the Organization of Islamic Conference who was condemning the attacks on civilians and so forth, so the answer is yes.

This in egards to recent beheadings of NON military hostages.
What view does islam take on these killings?

What does Islam say about killing non combatants?

It is narrated by Ibn 'Umar that a woman was found killed in one of these battles; so the Messenger of Allah forbade the killing of women and children.

The Prophet said, ""I advise you ten things: Do not kill women or children or an aged, infirm person. Do not cut down fruit-bearing trees. Do not destroy an inhabited place. Do not slaughter sheep or camels except for food. Do not burn bees and do not scatter them. Do not steal from the booty, and do not be cowardly."

Quran: 190. Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for Allah loveth not transgressors.

60.8: Allah forbids you not, with regard to those who fight you not for (your) Faith nor drive you out of your homes, from dealing kindly and justly with them: for Allah loveth those who are just.
