Why Can't People Accept Other Views?

Before I say much more, let me just say that I am not critisizing religion, but rather, the way in which people some follow it, without truly understanding other points of concepts.

A friend of mine, offered me the following site as a playful jab.

Admittedly, this is taking advantage of the minority of people, but seriously everyone, anyone with half a brain can see the gaping problems in the below statement.
One of the most basic laws in the universe is the Second Law of Thermodynamics. This states that as time goes by, entropy in an environment will increase. Evolution argues differently against a law that is accepted EVERYWHERE BY EVERYONE. Evolution says that we started out simple, and over time became more complex. That just isn't possible: UNLESS there is a giant outside source of energy supplying the Earth with huge amounts of energy. If there were such a source, scientists would certainly know about it. [emphasis added]
I agree that how faith can help... but actually understanding everything apart from your own beliefs, even without agreeing, is possibly just as great. Especially if it helps you to understand WHAT you're talking about.

Venus is closer to the sun than we are, and gets about twice the energy we do. So why isn't their evolution twice as advanced as ours? The answer is the planet is covered with clouds which prevent waste heat from escaping into the night sky. So on Venus the engine of life has seized up. The key isn't just having energy, it is having your energy flow.

The reason people can't accept other's views (not always, though) is because if they say that someone else may be right then they will have to admit that they may be wrong. This is wrong thinking, even in the Bible, in fact here is a quote from the book of Proverbs that may apply to anyone, even atheists:

Proverbs 16:18 Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

I guess I am saying that too much pride is not such a good thing for anyone.

But I could be wrong ;)

Not everybody is close minded. Others may have "powerful experiences," and they forget to use logic to explain it. It's not that they are dumb, they just "feel" like they are right and are blinded by their own ego.

I'm sorry people are making fun of jesus, Dallas, but remember that every religion has it's skeptics. Some people think the Buddha was a fat jolly man that sat under a tree for 20 years, but that's not what he was.

I know he wasnt(a fat man that sat under a tree) ...Buddha is a hero of mine personally..I have an awesome book ...It sits on my table in my den for anyone to read ..Its called....Jesus and Buddha...The Parallel Sayings..

If anyone mimics Christ they are mimicking Buddha...and if anyong mimics Buddha they are mimicking Christ..

An humble servant you will be..good for mankind..

many buddhists don't even go to a temple, as there is no "worship" to some of us, so don't worry about the hug thing, rudeness is an artificial product of structure and society anyways.

That little problem is in no way limited to the religious.

I like logic.
People only see the good things in life... some people, not all, haven't experienced tragic and disturbing hardships to make them see logic. Such as, if God exists, then... (insert scenario here). So those people are, of course, adamant about God and religion.

Let something bad happen, though, and let them see that God doesn't listen, then... there you go.

Just my view, anyway.

I've been where you are, but I still believe in God. Or rather, I believe again. I just had to reevaluate what that meant.

I'd like to be there, but I can't... I have to focus on getting the physical pain out of the way. Then maybe I can.

What about "emotional pain".....My father was kiiled in a small plane crash when I was 4...All they told me was "your daddy is dead and in heaven"...I said I want to go see him they said "you cant"...My father was 28 so was my mother..I had a 6 year old brother and a 2 1/2 year old sister.

Then my widowed mother went insane..(even though she remarried two years later and had my baby sister)..

She had blown up black and white photos taken by the government of the crash(she sued the government..control tower was in error)..She would get wasted and get in a fight with my (step dad)...She would call for us her little pieces of my father(his name) she said..Scream at us THERE IS YOUR FATHER!!!!!! TELL them (to my step dad)...BLOOD IS THICKER THAN WATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!THEIR FATHER IS DEAD!!!! YOU WILL NEVER LOVE THEM THE WAY YOU LOVE (my sisters name)...

I studdied those pictures as a child..she also had to tell me he was a burnt torso..As an adult she sent me his death certificate..Cause of death.."total body injury"....But he was a "whole piece"...the pilots heart was found a MILE away..but my father was a "whole piece".

I used to imagine he had survived..that mama was wrong.

Anyway...I still beileve Im blessed..most of my troubles I bring on myself..Im not being "picked on"...In the night and more and more and in the morning...I see God..

Sorry you had to go through that, and when I say this I don't undermine what you've been through. It's horrible and wouldn't wish it on anyone. However, emotional pain I've been through, as well. Nowhere near as much as you have, mind you, thankfully, but severe nonetheless. Now I'm going through extreme physical pain and great fear that I'm going to die, which can be conceived as emotional, and believe me when I say I'd rather have the emotional. Any pain is not a blessing, no matter how you look at it.

Im sorry you are in pain..I really am..I can only relate that to "labor" when I was 14 I think..That is bad pain...I like you thought.."Im dying and no one undertands.."..I went out of my body..I went somewhere else..Again with my 3rd..

I have no chronic pain though..(but for emotional)...I feel it though..I want you to know that..

What is up?...Why do you fear you are dying now?...Where is your pain?

All over... something autoimmune or perhaps mercury poisoning. My skin is weird and my brain fries and my muscles are sore. Light hurts and I haven't been out of the house in a month due to that. Healthy 31 year old guy one day, a sickly fear driven guy the next. Just like that.
