Religious decisions.

That was a tactic used to me at school in my VERY early years. "If you do not follow God, you will be sent to Hell with Satan where fire burns and monsters scare you". Surely they could have done better than that.

Following God means performing works of law. Romans 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

Its not a problem to wake up and be a Buddhist (if you want to) there are no rights or rituals if you want to be a Buddhist all you have to do is decide you are a Buddhist you don't even have to to tell anyone. I would point out though to truly be a Buddhist its not a bad idea to know the 4 noble truths and the 8 fold path as they are our core teachings you don't have to follow them because it is doctrine but you should want to follow them because they make you happy. As far as wakening up and believing in a "god" religion you must have had a powerful dream because those religions do require belief and rituals.

Can people just "decide" to be a certain religion? I mean, would they wake up one day and just think "I might become a buddhist." Is there any celeberations/initiations one must take? (Depending on specific religions)
