What Does God Mean To You?

I think that the word "God" represents an entity which one believes controls the universe, and is responsible for it's creation. I however, do not believe that an entity is responsible for the creation or control of the universe, of course. And I think you know it. :D

Honestly I never gave it much thought other than in an academic way but you are asking what does it mean "personally". Well, nothing but I will tell you this when the word "god" comes up in a conversation outside of the class room I generally put a quick end to the conversation as I don't think it will go anywhere I want it to go nor do I wish to discuss the topic other than in an academic situation.

I think the native American Indians said it best when they called God "The Great mystery" . God is beyond definition and comprehension . To me "God is Love" and the wholeness will never be completley known , only parts .

What does the word "god" mean to you? How would you define "god"?

An energy. Connection. The source of all there is. What we are a part of. What we will return to. The flow of nature and life throughout the universe. It has existed since the beginning of time and accumulates the knowledge of all. We all contribute to it. It manifests those aspects we need in what we perceive to be gods and goddesses. They are a part of the whole like we are. Our spirits are extensions of it. We are "god". The trees and grass are "god". The water and air is "god". The animals are "god". All life throughout the stars and planets of the universe are "god". When we pray for certain reasons we are praying for the knowledge of the Divine. We are answered by manifested representations of those aspects and knowledge that we desire. It is a give and take. A partnership.

I could go on and on, but I shall stop now before some just think I'm nuts. Probably too late for that huh?

Whatever it suits me to mean, I suppose truthfully. Very flexible concept, "God", a genius abstraction really. THE abstraction that emcompasses all other abstractions, actually.

Usually though, I mean Yahweh, the One, the limitless, the Tao of being-ness, the ineffable Other that all human beings try to define and quantify having sensed it in Creation, Nature and most importantly, the Self. That is, "Spirit" - pure awareness of the eternal in the tranzient.

In other ways, I believe God to be the representative of the potential self of every human being alive.

Depends, really...God I feel is very much defined by the parameters of the questions people pose about him. When the question ends and there are no more answers, that is where God is whole and complete.

God to me is the dynamic explanation and the dynamic essence that is in, through, with, and underpinning everything.

What "god" means/define to me is a name to be released from between my lips at a particular time with "Oh" before "god". I do not use the word "god" in bad terms. Only in happiness.

I say "Oh my god." sometimes, out of habit, because my mom always said it when I was little... Like if I am surprised, or something...
