What do religioux text make reference to cannibalism?

While some minor indigenous religions practice cannibalism I am not aware of cannibalism being in any religious texts. I have heard some people suggest that Christian communion is representative of cannibalism by drinking the blood and eating the body of Christ however, I do not think that is what was in mind when the sacrament was created, I tend to think it is more nit picking.

I think these things are dark and twisted and the God of Abraham did call for human sacrifice from time to time but I don't think the Bible actually ever meant for anyone to be a cannibal, but it is possible it is a twisted book.

What is your point Penguino? God condemns cannibalism in the Bible...

Penguino,
Did you even attempt to read the context that these verses were written in? Please just read for yourself before you accuse the Bible of condoning cannabalism. In none of these scriptures is this act considered acceptable. Even when Jesus talks of eating his flesh and drinking his blood, the very same scriptures explain that he is giving his disciples bread and wine. All of the other scriptures pertain to people that have rejected God to the extent that they can no longer partake in his blessings; therefore, they are so desolute that the only food they have is eat each other.

Aren't there some codices from Tenochtitlan (sp?) that support cannibalism?

Seems pretty simple to me

164. 29. And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat.

You should probably read chapter 26 before taking one verse out of context. You said yourself, these were just quotes you found. You might want to go to an online bible source (any translation, it doesn't matter) and you will see how unsupported your claim is.

Interesting. I would think that any command to cannabalize would be inherently religious.

Hey Penguino, if you're really interested, the wiki article is pretty good. Cannibalism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
