A good example of what the Americans are doing in Iraq

Yeah, right
But note that the present interior war is between sunnis and shias mostly

And also involving individuals who are not Iraqis which moved into the area. About the only people who deny this are those who hate George Bush so much that they are blinded to the actions of the prior regime and make up fantasies about said regime. It's also telling that Saddam is praised for keeping peace between Sunni and Shia Arabs but hardly a mention or care by the muslims participating in this thread, with the exception of about one, who seem to give a damn about the fact that Hussein practiced genocide against the Kurds with a program of Arabization. That he used weapons of mass destruction against the Kurds. It's not even disputed in the world community that he did such things.

Where the hell was all this outrage at when the Middle East's largest minority has been murdered by the two largest secular middle eastern states, Iraq and Turkey as well as Iran. Let's cry for Palestine but not Kurdistan?

The interior war in Iraq is not a clear cut insurgency. It's also not a clear cut battle between sunni and shia. There are many factions inside as well as from outside. It also speaks volumes that the north which is comprised of an entirely different ethnic group has faced far less violence then the ethnic infighting in central and southern Iraq.

In short, for anyone on this forum to declare that an Iraqi who doesn't stand up and fight the Americans is a traitor is too ignorant to post something of value on this issue.

Initial allegation of the Halabja gas attack pointed to Iran. It should be noted that the initial support of the gas attack by Iran lies in the same time frame that the U.S. backed Saddam in the Iraq-Iran war. It very well could have been both sides that gassed the Kurds in Halabja during that war.

Some relevant sites.

The 1988 Chemical Weapons Attack on Halabja, Iraq - Promotion

Who really gassed the Kurds?-report from a former CIA senior policy analyst alluding to the gassing as an act of war.

I rescind the statement about the 5,000 Kurds. There is still much contention as to who gassed the Kurds and whether it was truly deliberate genocide (as determined by a Dutch court in convicting Frans van Anraat of war crimes) or an act of war.

However, this doesn't change at all my contention that to call Iraqi Kurds traitors is irresponsible.

How do you feel about people who say that if you support the war on terror you are a terrorist?

For starters, it is meaningless claim because the war on terror is different things to different people and so is the idea of what a terrorist is. The terms of the claim need to be defined. My guess is that we water down the terms so much that they loose their original meaning. Often I think "cheap political posturing" when I hear this claim thrown around.

Are some of the people who are prosecuting (what I believe to be) the war on terror committing terrifying acts - hell yes

Have got some of my own as well which prove it was Iran, not Saddam.

DID SADDAM GAS HIS OWN PEOPLE

US Army War College: NO PROOF SADDAM GASSED THE KURDS!

Another Bush Lie About Iraq: Saddam Didn't Mass Murder His People with Gas. But is it Worse than that? How Deep Does the Republican-Iran Connection Go? Did republicans use their Iran connection to manipulate the 2002 election and are they using it no

Excuse me? who said Kurds were traitors?

I have many Kurd friends of my own, so please don't put words in my mouth again.

Some iraqi arabs (mostly sunni) call iraqi kurds traitors because those northern iraqi kurds were against saddam's rule and saddam was a hero to the iraqi sunni arabs

Apparently, you did not check the links I provided which showed the debate going both ways as well as one CIA official from that time who alluded to the death of those Kurds as not an act of genocide but as an act of war.

I guess I need to repeat this as well.

As far as putting words in your mouth I recommend against making generalized statements because they imply much. If you do not consider the Iraqi Kurds traitors then fine. It's good to know.

A good example of what American's are doing in Iraq is killing Jihadists.

tell me you "Comprehend", do you "Comprehend" what's going out their?
do you really really accept invading your home country- with all the consequences that probably happen in this kind of human action?

do you consider yourself a terrorist if you fight back this invasion?

oh, last thing, did you give yourself a break and look out what the word/concept "jihad" means in islam from a reliable source? or just be happy with the parrot role, repeating zionists and anti-islamists bla bla bla ?

That must mean you know nothing of what Saddam did to his own people. ;)

i can't belive you people, you justify turning a whole country upside down,
then come with a smile and say: whhh, we did the job, we got rid of a nasty dicator.
what are you? a morons with big guns?

but maybe i can justify your justification: you are thousands of miles away, your weapons factories now working fine, you put your hands on a huge amount of petroleum that will make you pay dollars to drive thousands of miles.
ohh what a benefits war can bring

Scuba Pete

Le plongeur avec attitude...
This is truly a case where the "Cure" is worse than the disease! We have killed far more Iraqis than Sadamn ever did: all in the name of "kindness".

Actually, I think I need to check some more on this history. It's refreshing when someone puts forth a point of view with backing evidence.

Thanks.
