There is another thread asking us "What if conservatives taught your child's school"... All I can think of are our children talking bushisms all the time. My daughter knows that the BEST way to poke fun at me is to say "nookler" ala Shrub!

I'm a fairly liberal person and don't like President Bush either, but this idiotic name-calling ("Shrub," "President Boob," "retard") is so childish. One should worry more about the policy the man actually implements than the stupid statements he makes, but more often than not, I just see people poking fun at the president's perceived intellectual capacity. Talk about reducing oneself to what one criticizes in others... But such is United States politics, I suppose. Americans don't want to learn about and debate policy; they'd rather have playground "brawls."

Because all conservatives have horrible public-speaking skills and a less than desirable command of the language. And thus, all conservatives are idiots.

Man, I'm so fed up with what masquerades as "politics" in this country.

I agree to a point. And you've seen me call him "President Boob".......I apologize if that comes off as being offensive to you....but becuase I have the ability to exercise my free speach I choose to do so. I know before I say it people won't like it but I don't care...... I get out and vote, I'm concerned about the issues, I'm active in my community...etc...etc.... and that still doesn't change the way I fell about President Boob. It is his policies...or lack thereof....that tends to set a lot of Americans off. His rambling and sometimes incoherent speech is just icing on the cake....(to me).....

A fool
His policies seem to demand greater criticism than his character. Why bother with his character unless you lack the real goods?

bush is a very cunning man. he is a master of deception and anyone who actually takes the time to listen to his words sees it. he uses stupidity as his tool to decieve, this is why he stammers so much in his speaches, however if you are actually paying attention you will note that he tells us that he will kill us. people play it off as him being stupid, however those who think that are actually the stupid ones. the point is, he knows excatly what he is doing and he does what he does because he knows how stupid the population truly is.

as for those who voted for him once let alone twice, i think the term you should be looking for is decieved. of course ingnorance is never an excuse.

It's usually because outside of his character, most critics don't actually know enough about the policies to actually criticize him. It's often the same people who praise Clinton for his character and not his policies.

And vice versa for both.

I really don't think it's possible to be too derisive of this president. My only concern about it is that people get so caught up in making fun of the way he talks that they get distracted from the destruction being wreaked by his administration.

I think Clinton's policies are illustrative of his lack of character. I've never been so disappointed in a politician in my life. He only seems tolerable because his successor is so very much worse.

I dont think Bush is an idiot,i think he is much cleverer than someone who straps a load of explosives to themselves and blows up a bus load of innocent people and thinking the next stop is paradise, now that is truly an Idiot.

I agree......

I'm a computer engineer for a local school system and I have a side line view of how the teachers deal with the no child left behind policy and other school related issues. I'm active in other areas in my community. I'm pro democrat but I have voted plenty of times for republicans. Sometimes during certain elections I may hear of a candidate who I know nothing or little about so before I vote I educate myself as much as possible on the person. I've signed plenty of petitions for different issues...etc....etc.....I try to be aware of certain policies as much as possible.....I tend to criticize the President on some, not all, of the policies......and then there are those times when he is put in front of a mic and veres off the prepaired script and then I'm like "oh my....What is this idiot talking about?!"......And it doesn't stop with him. I take issue with the whole administration as well as the one before it.

This is an important point. That was always my general criticism against Clinton. The Justice Department in the 90's, along with a certain attorney general, pretty much railroaded some of the civil rights in this nation. When so much was focused on one minor thing in that Presidency it completely removed any focus from legitimate criticism.

These people are most definitely not idiots. Though sometimes I wish they were.

Doesn't offend me at all. I merely find it frustrating that political debate and discussion in this country has been reduced to the sort of trivial, childish name-calling you'd find on an elementary school playground. Politics in the United States is so immature and unintellectual.

Precisely.

Another thing is: I hear so many people name-calling the president but when I ask them to explain their objections and prod them further about specifics regarding cited policy, they don't even know what they're talking about.

You have NEVER asked me, so in anticipation of this, I have to admit that I call him Shrub, but he is not quite the Bush his daddy (or brother) is. Short on intellect, morally bankrupt and opportunistic. He is everything that is WRONG with politicians today. In fact he should be named the permanent poster child for the "GOB" network. It was a shame that there was a typo when they first were introduced as the "GOP". "Good Ol' Boy" network is way more like it!

He should also be called Shrub in fond memory of the late, great, Molly Ivins, who gave him the moniker. :)

I am English GW dos'nt come across as very likeable but to call him an idiot is infantile,i'm glad we invaded iraq and are trying to help iraq become democratic ok they lied to us as to why we are in iraq but that does not make him an idiot.I would like us to invade iran next as their government or council of experts deserve it and this would make iraq more stable. And you cannot call the people who voted for him idiots because you disagree with his policy. The thing is because of democracy he can and probably will be voted out of office ,could that happen in iran, syria erm no i think the answer is,so in GW is doing the right thing in his eyes and although unpopular because of the war i do not believe he is an idiot.

Help Iraq become democratic - Who installed and maintained Saddam?
ok they lied to us? Thats NOT ok
Invade Iran because they deserve it? Why do they deserve it? Invade means people die.
he can and probably will be voted out of office- He can't be re-elected this is his second term.
GW is doing the right thing in his eyes - That's the worry.
