Babylon the Great is the entire world empire of false religion. She includes all religions that preserve the religious teachings and practices of ancient Babylon and that manifest her spirit.

And I heard another voice out of heaven say: ‘Get out of her, my people, if you do not want to share with her in her sins, and if you do not want to receive part of her plagues.’" (Revelation 18:4) so Gods people are told to get out of her, why?
Jehovah’s judgment of Babylon the Great is final: "And a strong angel lifted up a stone like a great millstone and hurled it into the sea, saying: ‘Thus with a swift pitch will Babylon the great city be hurled down, and she will never be found again.’" (Revelation 18:21) so do we want to be a part of babylon the great when she is completly destroyed by God. or have we got out of her ?

The entire chapter of Revelations 17 talks about her. There is much speculation that this was a reference to Rome (seven hills, etc), which like Babylonis of old controlled much of the world at that time.

Honestly, Revelations makes me very uneasy. I understand so little of it, and know much of what I THINK I understand is pure conjecture. I abhor conjecture.

And
one of the seven angels that had the seven bowls came and spoke with me, saying: ‘Come, I will show you the judgment upon the great harlot who sits on many waters, with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, whereas those who inhabit the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication.’"—Revelation 17:1, 2.

"The great harlot"! Why so shocking a designation? Who is she? Some have identified this symbolic harlot with ancient Rome. But Rome was a political power. This harlot commits fornication with the kings of the earth, and this evidently includes the kings of Rome. Besides, after her destruction, "the kings of the earth" are said to mourn her passing. Therefore, she cannot be a political power. (Revelation 18:9, 10) Additionally, since she is mourned also by the world’s merchants, she could not picture big business. (Revelation 18:15, 16) We read, however, that ‘by her spiritistic practice all the nations were misled.’ (Revelation 18:23) This makes it clear that the great harlot must be a worldwide religious entity

I am taking a class under E. Earle Ellis, an 80+ year old world-class NT scholar. He confessed to the class that he does not yet understand Revelation.

John himself did not explain the book to his disciple Polycarp, so I submit that the true meaning of the book will be a mystery until the last day.

One of my favorite quotes came from a class on Revelations... the instructor was discussing the various theories for the "reign". The mellenial theory, the bimillenial theory, etc... and told us that he was a STRONG advocate of the Panellenial Theory. It's all going to PAN out just the way God intended no matter HOW he try to force an interpretation on it.

It was at Babylon, more than 4,000 years ago that Jehovah confused the tongues of the would be builders of the Tower of Babel. The different language groups were scattered to the ends of the earth, taking with them the apostate beliefs and pratices that are the basis of most religions today(Genesis 11;1-9)Babylon the great is the religious part of satans organization

Too many people try and FORCE their own personal bigotry into the scriptures. It's pretty disgusting, really.

Ancient Babylon sat on many waters—the Euphrates River and numerous canals. These were a protection to her as well as a source of commerce producing wealth, until they dried up in one night. (Jeremiah 50:38; 51:9, 12, 13) Babylon the Great also looks to "many waters" to protect and enrich her. These symbolic waters are "peoples and crowds and nations and tongues," that is, all the thousands of millions of humans over whom she has dominated and from whom she has drawn material support. But these waters are also drying up, or withdrawing support.—Revelation 17:15; There is no forced bigotry the scriptures speak for them selves

Which religious entity is she ? Is she the Roman Catholic Church, as some have maintained? Or is she all of Christendom? No, she must be even larger than these if she is to mislead all the nations. She is, in fact, the entire world empire of false religion. Her origin in the mysteries of Babylon is shown in that many Babylonish doctrines and practices are common to religions around the earth. For example, belief in the inherent immortality of the human soul, in a hell of torment, and in a trinity of gods is to be found in most Oriental religions as well as in the sects of Christendom
Babylon (or Babel, meaning "Confusion") came to its peak of greatness in Nebuchadnezzar’s time. It was a religio-political state with more than a thousand temples and chapels. Its priesthood exercised great power. Though Babylon has long since ceased to exist as a world power, religious Babylon the Great lives on, and after the ancient pattern, she still seeks to influence and mold political affairs. But does God approve of religion in politics? In the Hebrew Scriptures, Israel was said to prostitute herself when she got involved with false worship and when, instead of trusting in Jehovah, she made alliances with the nations. (Jeremiah 3:6, 8, 9; Ezekiel 16:28-30) Babylon the Great also commits fornication. Outstandingly, she has done whatever she deems expedient in order to gain influence and power over the ruling kings of the earth.—1 Timothy 4:1.

it must be one without babilonish teachings attached to it,because the bible tells us that this woman will be judged and destroyed.prophecies of ancient Babylons fall in the hebrew scriptures also include Jehovahs command to his people ,take your flight out of the midst of Babylon(Jeremiah 50;8, 13.) similarly in view of the coming desolation of Babylon the great, gods people are now urged to escape. and millions have, they have obeyed and are no part of Babylon the great(revelation 18;4)Gods people need to separate themselves from false religion, because remaining within it they would be as guilty as she is of spirtual adultery
