I think it really depends what your intentions are when you pick the book up..if your sole intention is to disprove the existence of God and find contradictions..then you will definatly find something that doesnt add up...I had a few issues with laws concerning thieves..those verses have a deeper meaning to them tho..it is pointing towards justice by example..if the punishment is so severe..the offender will think about his decision and consider the consequences before committing the crime..IMO Islam is a religion of prevention..no drinking is allowed..why? not because "everyone" cant handle their drink..I sure can..but society as a whole would benefit by not having drunkards fighting over nothing and running thousands of people over every year...I am not saying I understand it completley..but I am willing to give it a chance..and have found peace with Allah.
I understand your POV and respect you for not blindly believing what our forefathers thought you..Honestly I have found alot of answers in the Quran..the description of God is the most accurate and believable one that I would imagine a true God would deserve..that being said I never had a problem with having faith..rather the need to redirect it towards a God that deserved it..
