While it is good to read a few books, it is even more important to do practical work.
The most valuable (and probably least liked) practice is that of keeping a magical journal.
Some "classics" on the topic are:

So to get really picky on that level, it simply means "godless".
But there are a lot of gods in many religions who are not creator gods!
