    Schiavo and Political Rhetoric

No one (that I'm aware of) is advocating that EVERYONE who is in a persistant vegetative state and requires mechanical assistance to continue living (mechanical assistance including a feeding tube) be disconnected and allowed to die. What people ARE advocating is that when someone has expressed...

Shame on every Christian in Texas who

I wasn't meaning to imply that there arne't fakers outside of prison as well - only that if we make religious devotion an "out" for the death penalty there will be MANY MANY MANY false "conversion" solely for the sake of escapting execution, which serves neither any concept of God nor Justice.

Why do you hate the President?

I try not to "hate" anyone, but if there is anyone I hate, it's Bush. As to why? Well: Studies have shown that we are now more vulnerable to terrorism than we were pre-9/11 because of Bush's policies and the war in Iraq Bush KNEW prior to Congress voting to give him the authority to go...

Shame on every Christian in Texas who

Agreed 100%! Plus, if "finding religion" becomes the new standard for being granted clemency, pretty much EVERYONE on death row will "find religion" - at least long enough to have their sentence commuted to life in prison. One big problem, of course, is that - especially in a closed society...

    Do we NEED guns?

Re: Working ok in Iraq - they insurgents there have significantly different weapons that civilians here in the states can have (and I'm glad civilians can't have the kind of weapons the insurgents do because there's be a lot more death and destruction here, too, if we did, IMO) I have to...

    Schiavo and Political Rhetoric

Over at DailyKos, one of the bloggers has posted an EXCELLENT background article on the Schiavo case, drawn mainly from the findings of the Guardian Ad Litum that was appointed by Gov. Jeb Bush following the passage of the Florida law that was eventually struck down by the Supreme Court. The...

    Hello!

Thanks everyone! :) FeathersInHair - COH is a FANTASTIC game - they've really thought out how to make a game that's enjoyable for both hardcore gamers and people who just want to play occasionally. One of the nicest features, IMO, is the ability for higher and lower level characters to play...

    Schiavo and Political Rhetoric

One thing that really gets to me is that when asked about the apparent disparity between the bill that Bush signed in Texas and the current fight over Terri Schiavo, Scott McLellan actually said that the bill Bush signed in Texas was *consistant* with the Schiavo fight, though he failed to...

    Interesting read...

I think it actually comes down to the difference between those who seek responsiblity and those who seek power. In both politics and religion, leaders have both a certain amount of power over those whom they govern as well as responsiblities to those same people. When an individual is focused...

    Hello!

Just thought I'd say "hi"! I'm new here :) My name is Kriselda and I've been a Pagan for about 15 years. I've long had an interest in religion, spirituality and religious tolerance/diversity issues. I also have a great love for music and am an amateur (and mediocre, really) guitarist. I...
