Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by...
I'm quite pro-choice, because a woman who doesn't want the baby will find some way to abort it anyways. Abortion should stay safe and legal, to decrease the number of deaths of the mother from back-alley abortions. I wouldn't get it done myself, but I don't judge.
I would certainly say yes. It astounds me that the religious right has attacked healthcare reform so viciously when all they need to do is open up the Bible to those same verses you mentioned. Socialized medicine is the most Christian thing to come out from the federal government in a while.
Scientologists honestly can't talk about Lord Xenu (or Xemu, as you noted--LRH's own handwritten notes use both) for one of two good reasons. The information about Lord Xenu isn't until OT III. If lower-level Scientologists hear about it, they will have been trained to discard it as lies spread...
You seem to be running into a common Catholic snag. Lots of other denominations have specific hymnals, but we don't. Individual parishes just pick from commercially available hymnals based on what's right for the "feel" of their parish--some don't veer from translations from Latin hymns and some...
There are plenty of reasons to not partake in the Blood. Some might not be used to it, some might not want to drink alcohol, and I'm sure there are some who question the cleanliness. I just assume that God is watching out for me ;)
Hi all, I'm southdetroit, you can call me southdetroit :) I I joined this forum to talk about religion, what else? As the philosopher says, "the unexamined life is not worth living"--and examining life is what I want to do! I'm looking forward to stimulating discussion!
Ah, the trials and tribulations of being Christian. Our one holy book contradicts itself so much. We read from Romans:
"Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith." 3:27
"And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more...
The Orthodox tradition of Confirmation is somewhat different from the Catholic and Anglican traditions in its timing, but the basic idea is the same: a bishop seals a believer with the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Catholic and Orthodox churches don't accept the Anglican Confirmation as valid, as...
I was raised Catholic and became Episcopalian once I flew the home nest. I didn't do anything too special. I did a ceremony to reaffirm my baptismal vows, but that was a personal choice.
I suppose that "God changed His mind" is one way to put it. I think it's very important to look at the Bible as something that addressed the issues of its time. We should inspect these sorts of passages nowadays with a critical eye. The Bible condemns fornication to encourage a conservative...
