Being able to rise above instinctual behaviour and react with reason is, in my opinion, part of what makes us human. We are part of the animal kingdom, and we do have animal instincts and drives, but we can rise above them and respond with generosity and tolerance.
A straight woman having sex with another woman is not a lesbian. Lesbians are women whose sexual orientation is towards other women. It is also, for some lesbians, part of a woman focussed political identity. What you're suggesting is mysoginist and really rather missing the point.
Maybe men...
Exactly. I just don't even know how to respond to this part of the conversation. And even with the children thing, no actual relationship is necessary. A friend who is willing to help out and a syringe... :rainbow1:
I'm really curious about the (until ready to settle down) qualifier. What do you mean by that? That lesbians should marry men despite their lesbianism? Or that women should just sleep with women until they get married, regardless of their actual sexuality?
I hate the term "gays". The way it is used feels very homophobic to me. I am gay, or a gay person, or (my personal preference) a lesbian. Just using "gays" with no qualifier is dehumanising. Gay people would have been better in the thread title, imo.
The thing is, if a Christian informs me that my marriage to my wife is a sin, that's one thing. Having a group of screaming people with bibles and loudspeakers harassing us when we go shopping in town is quite another (true story).
The fact that we know that (some) Christians think it's a sin...
This is a really welcoming place, thanks again, all :)
It was really nice to be able to talk with other people who cared about stuff that we normally just thought about for ourselves.
I have honestly never felt so at home anywhere as I do when I am sitting in meeting, it's an incredible...
Canned lentils are a really good direct substitute for mince in pretty much anything. I found that a really easy way to cut out meat because I was basically cooking the same stuff as I had before, just with lentils.
Yes :) In my experience (of unprogrammed worship) we generally have tea and nattering after meeting for worship and also separate social and community events. For example, a 'bring and share' lunch where we discussed the sources of the food we shared and the ethical/social/environmental impact...
