That's not my kid! What now?

Ever been in a situation where you might choose to order a genetic test to assert you are the biological parent of a kid you love as your own? What would you do with that information if you discovered you were not in fact the biological parent?

Male Circumcision good or bad up to the individual?

Any comparison between infant circumcision and spanking children drawing a long bow. I don't think the anecdote concerning your Grandfather is helpful either.

Male Circumcision good or bad up to the individual?

For the "victim", male circumcision in the case of religiously mandated circumcision, is as experientially blind as colour blindness due to genetic sorting. The result in both cases is blissful ignorance in the experience of the "victim". I'm not adopting a moral stance on the virtues or...

11 yr old asks: What is Scientology?

My 11 year old mathematician and science freak son left his extension studies course today asking me, "what is scientology"? I gave him a vague answer based on my (limited) understanding of Scientology along the lines of: Scientology is an American religion started by a writer of science...

    US and Syria

Its not about "Obama's" red line. The recent chemical attack crossed a red-line for humanity. As human kind, we just can't have regimes gassing their people in scenes reminiscent of the Nazi holocaust any more. The US should act because it can. Disable Assad to the extent that Syria's...

Would talking more about what we don't know be more useful than talking about what we supposedly do?

I add, understanding anything forcibly involves other people.

Male Circumcision good or bad up to the individual?

Your response is a bit harsh. Being circumcised (at birth)is accidental, a bit like being colour-blind: the former is a result of cultural intervention, the latter a result of genetic intervention.

    Been to the mountain?

"And then I got to Memphis. And some began to say the threats, or talk about the threats that were out. What would happen to me from some of our sick white brothers? ... Well, I don't know what will happen now. We've got some difficult days ahead. But it doesn't really matter with me now...

What does the Buddha's silence mean?

To me, it's like asking, "what is the function of the eye of a cyclone?"

How do you define a traditional woman when it comes to relationships

How do you define a traditional woman when it comes to relationships? Preferably a random Mummy, (but I don't mind if it turns out to be Cleopatra with her asp included).
