IN CHRISTMAS, whom we celebrate..., to Santa Calus, Harry Potter, or Jesus?

"Christmas (time)" is the most bewildering and hard to know what to do with/make of it time of the year. (for me) Mostly I just look around curiously at everyone else around me "doin' it", kind of like a deer caught in the headlights. Then go on with life as usual. Time off is nice though. :)

Christian prayer/faith is, by definition, a subtype of magic.

Is self contained (subjective) interraction with an invisible incorporeal being magic?

    Choosing a child's religion vs. a child's career

Instead of trying to 'make' (or label) our children, it's so much nicer for everyone to simply get to know one another (as we each come to know our own selves). It's something we do together as individuals.

Poll: Do you think we are born with an immortal soul?

I'm not sure what a soul is. It would be a conscious life force with specific memories I guess.

    Miley Cyrus's "Wrecking Ball"

Miley is definately a 'Twirk Symbol'. If that's what she's aiming for she's doing quite a good job of it. She's definately 'pulling off' something. :p Marilyn- Sex Symbol Miley- Twirk Symbol It works. :D

    Symbolism as a religion

Enjoyed that. Symbols are often understood or depicted as portals or doorways to "other places". "Other world places" are often depicted as being entered into by some kind of symbol that serves as a key. This would be the exoteric rendering (in film, books, videogames etc) of the esoteric...

    Miley Cyrus's "Wrecking Ball"

I think the... problem... is that (whatever it is that she is doing) she's not pulling it off. I just don't think sex appeal is her thing. (in that she does not come off as sexually appealing. IMO)

    Symbolism as a religion

If doorways are your gods, than symbols that serve as doorways for you are your gods.

    Abortion

I always wonder though, who will pay the thousands of dollars necessary for preemie incubators, care and life support? If the mother is expected to pay it, I think you'll see lots of coat hangers. I'm okay with the state paying for it- or new adoptive parents. It's a detail that I can't recal...

Are You a Christian? Do You Celebrate Halloween? Should you?

Girls can dress up as messengers too. :p (all fixed):)

"messenger" is also a costume. A 'put on'- a role that is played. If JayJayDee is still playing the role of messenger on October 31st, she has put on her chosen cloak and joined in the folly of the day. Actually, she is dressed up nice and early already!:knight: Have a cookie. :cookie: :D

Parents: What religious views do you, spouse, and kids adhere to?

We're discussers and jokers. UU is a good place to go if you want some interesting and varried interraction without the dogmas and doctrines.

Are You a Christian? Do You Celebrate Halloween? Should you?

So if a particular christian is not making false religious connections with their fun making then masquarade is fine. Certainly the false religious notions other people connect with (whatever) calendar dates has nothing at all to do with them or the..... pureness of integrity.... they bring to...

Need a book to teach my son about God

    Which God?

Are You a Christian? Do You Celebrate Halloween? Should you?

Or perhaps it's just that christian adults and their children should be... above....the need and desire for.... this kind of fanciful public display.
