Hamas vs. Israel, a thought experiment

This seems to be another version of "well, we can't trust any info, so I'll just go with whatever feels right". It's entirely possible to find objective, nonpartisan info. It's also possible to detect the bias in certain info and understand that info's failings. It's not a simple "well, this...

Hamas vs. Israel, a thought experiment

In other words, you have an extreme emotional investment in this which is coloring your view and so you are incapable of discussing it objectively, so instead you condescend and insult. If you really weren't going to "waste your time", you wouldn't have taken the time to post this drivel.

Hamas vs. Israel, a thought experiment

All of the information that is out there on the situation.

Hamas vs. Israel, a thought experiment

Sounds like your understanding of the situation is severely lacking and only based on the popular narrative put out by Israel and its allies.

Hamas vs. Israel, a thought experiment

I like the emotional accusation followed by condescension. Well done. But ignoring that, can you tell me in what way you think Hamas's attack negates the analogy? Israel has all the power. They have a full, advanced military funded by Western powers like the U.S. They have a fully functional...

Hamas vs. Israel, a thought experiment

A country who actively inflames tensions with another is not interested in peace with them. Israel uses its power to control Gaza and ignore violence by its people against Palestinians in the West Bank. That's not "seeking peace".

Hamas vs. Israel, a thought experiment

And what efforts were those? Just "offering peace" isn't good enough. They basically came in and took over the area that is Israel and relegated Palestinians to Gaza and the West Bank. What exactly did they offer them after that? If a politician offers to legalize abortion with the conditions...

Hamas vs. Israel, a thought experiment

You're still not capable of productive conversation, huh? Still content to just call people stupid and not actually engage with what they say, preferring to just insult them instead. That's pretty sad. If you care to stop posting such stupid nonsense and try reading what others say and respond...

Hamas vs. Israel, a thought experiment

I already realized you're not very good at productive discussion. What I didn't realize was that you think bombing hospitals and other places where innocent civilians are is somehow seeking the elimination of a barbarous malignant threat. What exactly did those hundreds of regular people with no...

Hamas vs. Israel, a thought experiment

What doesn't help the discourse is using a false dichotomy to accuse someone of a position they obviously don't hold. Personally, I'd say unnecessarily killing innocent civilians is murder. Israel doesn't really want peace either, at least not Netanyahu and other Israeli leaders.

Hamas vs. Israel, a thought experiment

Because if they were actually seeking the elimination of a barbarous malignant threat, they'd take actions that have that as the goal. Evacuating half of Gaza, while bombing and killing thousands of innocent Palestinians isn't moving toward that goal. It's likely to cause that barbarous...

Hamas vs. Israel, a thought experiment

You realize there are a lot of options between "just roll over and play dead" and murdering thousands of innocent civilians, right?

Hamas vs. Israel, a thought experiment

Israel expresses regret and remorse for the "collateral damage" they cause when seeking revenge. The same way an abusive partner expresses regret at having to teach their partner a lesson. If Israel actually felt regret and remorse, they would just go ahead and not kill innocent people.

Hamas vs. Israel, a thought experiment

I was curious what this would be about when I clicked on the threat. Then I saw Sam Harris. That's a terrible way to start any thread, much less one on this topic. Also, if killing thousands of innocent Palestinian civilians is "Israel holding back", I'd hate to see what they do when they're...

Hamas vs. Israel, a thought experiment

I rarely stop by these days, but it's nice to see you haven't changed. Even the performative nature of your condescension is still intact (since, as I'm sure you're aware, you don't publicly ask mods to cancel your membership; you either stop coming here or delete your own profile without need...
