    An expirement

GHSSOCCER07, Could you maybe give us some details to how you came to this conclusion. Not only would I say that the opposite is true, but I would guess that they odds are even greater than 1,000,000 to 1 that a god doesn't exist. And as per your other comment about taking faith away from...

    Heaven, Jesus, and the Jews

I was wondering if anyone knew of a place in the new testament, where Jesus says that Jews will automatically get into heaven? I remember hearing something like this somewhere in my religious education, but I would like to know if it's actually true, and where it can be found. Cheers!

    Why believe in god?

You bring up a good point. Why not believe in a god? For me, it's because the proof that a god exists is not in his favor. You might tell me to look at the miracle of life. A baby growing in a mother's womb is truly amazing to me as well. But there is nothing supernatural about why babies...

    Blantant Hillary Bias

As much as I hate Hillary Clinton, I applaud her efforts in pro-choice advocacy. Plus a big hand to Marymount Manhattan College for not letting the Catholic "Man" get them down.

    Hell?

I believe that the notion of hell was invented to keep the common folk in line. Before we had an organized set-up for police and legal systems, the church was an important factor in deterring crime. If the common folk were told that stealing, for example, would buy a ticket to hell, then many...

    Dinosaur Poster

Anyone who says that dinosaurs didn't exist obviously refuses to accept the world around them. Next they will be saying evolution didn't take place...oh wait.

    Europeans dropping their faith?

Jensa, I wouldn't be surprised if George Bush senior did indeed say the quote that you stated. But I remember seeing a news piece in which George W. Bush made a very similar statement to the quote you related. I suppose I should look it up just to make sure.

    Europeans dropping their faith?

anders, I only point out a lack of churches on this campus because at my school in Pennsylvania, we have a Lutheran chapel right on the campus. It doubles as our auditorium. You would be hard pressed to find a university in America without some type of religious building on its campus, with...

    Europeans dropping their faith?

I am currently spending a semester of study in Scotland, and have noticed a very interesting possibility: That the Scots are loosing their faith. It is quite easy to spot, just driving around Edinburgh, these beautiful, old churches that have been turned into education annexes, or banquet halls...

    faith and doubt

You mentioned that you wanted responses from people of different faiths. Well I have a faith in science. I also have a faith in life. I believe that there is no better way to gain knowledge than to doubt and question everything you are taught. michel says that the blind follower is indeed blind...

do we need to go to church ?

hanessah, I have been to church a few times in my life, and I honestly believe it was a waste of my time. That is my own preference, but of course I don't believe in god either. I believe that if you want to woriship a god, or the sun, or the color blue, or cream cheese, you can do that...

    A totally Theist World

In reference to CaptainXeroid's post about: "ince you asked.;) IMHO there would be... a lot less crime many fewer wars many fewer threads on RF :D" I actually think the opposite of this is true. Almost every war that has occurred can be linked to religion. Also, the likelihood that a...

    What Is Prayer?

Prayer is the way in which an individual puts their life into a harmony. It can consist of anything that sets an individual parallel to their world. One does not need to open a bible or go to church to pray. One doesn't even need to believe in god.

Sorry, I just can't swear to that...

I don't know if this is true everywhere, but in New York State one can ask to affirm, if one does not want to sware on a bible. You just have to tell the judge you wish to affirm. Instead of the normal speech, they will say "Do you affirm to tell the truth, etc." minus the "so help you God"...
