I know that Jesus lives and that angels are among us.

Everything is in the palm of the Father's hand.

I have seen and conversed with the same angel twice.

The first time was when he saved me from evil spirits who were trying to possess my body.

The second time was during a rough patch in my life after I had been laid off and unemployed for a while.

Both times he came and taught me things.

I have also once heard the voice of our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, when He healed me from a disorder that had been plaguing me for many years.

Years before I got sick my wife had been diagnosed with epilepsy after having a miscarriage. She was distraught, so I went to my Father in Heaven and asked that I be the "lightning rod" for my family.

I wanted to absorb any and all pain and suffering.

A couple years later I got sick and I knew that this happened to me because of the deal I made with God.

However, after many years of pain, I wanted relief and knelt down and prayed about lifting this condition from me.

Immediately I received the impression that God never agreed with the request that I had made, but He had allowed it to happen because I had asked it of Him.

I also received the impression that He had been disappointed in me for making such a request.

This troubled me and I said in my mind, "I didn't want my family to suffer!"

That was when I heard a voice. It was as if a man was standing directly behind me and it said, "No one needs to suffer. I heal all."

I don't think I ever truly understood the Atonement until that moment.

I had never complained about my pain. I had never asked for a blessing of healing or relief because I had always felt that my suffering was justified. I deserved it.

After this experience I learned that the Lord Jesus Christ is not in the business of giving anyone what they deserve, but mercy.

We all deserve to suffer because of the sins we commit, but He has given up everything - even His very life - in order to help us avoid any and all suffering.

Needless to say, I flushed all of my medications down the toilet after that and I am feeling a lot better. I'm not completely pain free, but it's a lot better now and I have hope that it will get better with time.

I know that the Lord Jesus Christ loves and knows us. He is aware of everything that we are experiencing and He cares.

I know that Heavenly Father has a plan set in place and that everything is going according to that plan.

I admonish everyone to come to Christ and come to know this plan and how can become happy in this life and receive eternal joy in the life to come.
