Do those who prefer falsehood over truth deserve hell forever?

Perhaps the teacher should be punished if the students are clearly not learning what they need.

Have you listened to Christian leaders? How about Jewish? Hindu? Why do you reject other faiths? I suspect I reject Muslim religion for many of the same reasons you reject other faiths.

I apologize, nothing wrong with being independent. Becoming independent, being independent, this is definitely one of the stages in life. Those who are just fine on their own tend to be just fine with others. Wolves make great packs.

Learning about people’s faith & what they believe in, how they think about it & try to practice it

Brain + research. Input to brain needs to include reputable, reproducible, universally agreed upon data.

    Atheists: does God exist?

It is impossible to know a person, as it is impossible to know God. The Mormons are not the only group who claim knowledge. I've spent years in two different groups with this belief, childhood in one, midlife in another... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elevation_(emotion) ...distinct...

Big hugs to you. The unkind labels, they are given by society, by limitations of environment someone grew up in. How does one change the norm? Change society? One person, one label at a time I suppose.

    Atheists: does God exist?

It might be semantics, but so much is wrapped in words - I was never an English major. What do you mean by the phrase "degree of knowledge"? When I hear someone say "I know....", the word "know" implies complete certainty to me. If someone uses language such as "I think that...", this to me...

    Self-identified

You are lucky that all your labels match up. I fear my people - my family, colleagues, acquaintances, what they might call me doesn't match what I would like to be known as. Could be me, could be social norms of labels for people like me.... A rose by any other label. What name, pronoun...

    Atheists: does God exist?

Your post elaborated on myths, allegories, different interpretations. I was agreeing with some of your post and wishing more groups would allow non-literal symbolic personal interpretations of scriptures as part of their beliefs. If we could all embrace a mindset of - this is what it...

    Self-identified

It's not just an individual thing though, it's understanding others, trying to connect using words not burdened with bias, to introduce new idea on healthy relashionships. - Labels are relashionship builders. What relashionships work for us = what groups we are labeled with...

    Self-identified

It sounds isolationist, or lone-wolf, don't need anyone kind of thing. Dependent, codependent, independent - trouble with all of those. Interdependent? How many are familiar with interdependent? Enter-be?

    Self-identified

Other-identified, vs. Self-identified. I have decided I do not like being labeled by others as: Not- affiliated. (I'm sociable, I affiliate with many groups) Nondenominational (seems to still group you with Christian theology?) Independent (I'm not isolationist, not a hermit) "None's" -...

    Atheists: does God exist?

So much angst could be avoided by taking a non-literal approach to the flood, creation accounts, heaven, hell, etc. Aesop's fables are fables, but contain truth, adaptable to each reader's interpretation for what they personally need. Allegories are healthy Literaliists - the young earthers...

    Atheists: does God exist?

Yea, I can see that, we'll have to write a new allegory, some in chains, some in chains but perhaps at least able to turn the heads, some lost in a labyrinth of different caves, to those above ground (seeing very small piece of surface), What is a good parable backdrop for explaining how to be...

    Atheists: does God exist?

We're all in our own caves, only know our own experiences. The mindset if - I'm right, I "know" everyone else is wrong. Vs. Mindset: "There are a few things I think are valid, others may think differently and I'm prepared to reconsider my views" It is important and healthy to remain open to...
