    Roman Catholic: Dissent

The division of teaching into different levels (dogma, doctrine, discipline, etc.) implies that a certain level of dissent is permissable. Furthermore, the ability of some to ask hard questions, even if just in the role of a devil's advocate, is necessary to prevent errors from attaching...

John Paul II may be declared a martyr

I hope the Church resists the pressure to rush things. What is a few years or even decades to a two millenia old institution?

Catholic Medical Association links medicine and spirituality

From what I've seen, the Catholic Medical Association has a dubious scientific credibility. Often, I notice statements which reveal either a lack of knowledge of the field they are discussing or an attempt to take advantage of the ignorance of the public.

    Roman Catholic: Communion with non-Catholics

I believe it is partially due to the extreme disconnect between Catholics and Protestants on the issue of the Eucharist. Because Catholics see it as the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, Son of God, having someone treating the Eucharist as merely a symbol seems profane. However, this would...

    profession of faith?

The Profession of Faith is when everyone says the Creed. I think the proper term for what you are talking about is the Renewal of Baptismal Vows.

How do you know that the Holy Spirit is guiding all of this?

    Sola scriptura

    Could you cite that?

    Sola scriptura

Most obviously, one needs help to understand the language, either by learning Greek and Hebrew or using a translation. Then, one needs to learn more about the history and cultures of the ancient Near East to better understand what is going on. The assistance of other Christians is vital to...

    Public vote on civil rights

Barring a US Supreme Court ruling on the issue (which is unlikely for a while), the courts will only strike these down on procedural problems, such as considering more than one issue in one admendment.

    Murder Justified?

The monk showed a lack of imagination. There would be other ways of dealing with the situation without killing the too criminals. Alerting the other passengers would have greatly improved both his ability to come up with a better solution as well as expanding his range of action.
