That's occurred to me as well. It's a dangerous statement to make, but I have considered the idea that God is for people who have trouble taking their fellow humans seriously, and therefore, need someone to both criticize and care for them outside of this life.
The gates to RF, or the gates to heaven? Because I'm sure if I believed in heaven and hell, all my friends are headed to the latter, so heaven would be lonely. I have always supposed that hell is where the party's at. :woohoo:
And everyone you know forms the majority of the world? Not that I'm arguing that Christianity is not the most followed religion, but I noticed as well that many researchers were undecided as to whether Islam beat out Christianity in terms of number of followers.
How would you direct someone...
I'm sorry, but the most common view doesn't mean "most likely to be right" since nobody really has any evidence in any direction here.
Also, I'm not sure that the most common religion is Christianity, but I could be wrong. I'll have to look that up.
Being 'on the safe side'... what does that...
And THAT was exactly my point. The only value that belief seems to hold (in my opinion) is to provide comfort in enjoying or partaking in a concept or idea, God included.
Existence is something we'll never be able to prove, all we have is belief. Often, it's enough.
I've found, particularly over the past few years, North America in general has become a bit more prudent about not stamping on religious belief in individuals. For example, in Montreal, I worked with several Muslims who were given completely different schedules to compensate for alloted prayer...
A few of you have already met me...
I joined because of my latent unease with my apathy towards faith. I considered the fact that perhaps I was simply agnostic, but upon further inspection, that didn't make sense either.
After conversing with a few of you, it's become apparent that I have a...
*sigh of relief*
Thankyou, Aasimar.
I've been sweating about how to reword that all day. It was a sticky concept, one I was still toying with myself.
I hope that has helped, Victor?
Again, I'm left to wonder if faith is really just a comfort zone that one is prone to or has acquired. I am not opposed to settling into said zones, but since I find myself unable to adhere to a faith of my own, I am led to think that faith is self-assurance, and in most cases, an effective...
Apathy is something I know all about, unfortunately.
I've been beating myself up for years wondering if my lack of faith is really lessening my human experience.
My refusal to commit to any given theory or belief (and I honestly don't see the difference) infuriates people. This drives me to pick...
Unfortunately, Mr Guy, I think you missed the point entirely.
The hypocrisy being objected to was that they are NOT equivalent concepts, and yet both entail the end of a life against one's will.
Given, babies don't get to defend their human rights, nor did they do anything to provoke being...
Typically, the United States will admit, more than a decade.
Some, well over 20 years.
(I'm unable to provide a URL reference here, but google allows you to find state by state lists of inmates, careful and thorough navigation of such sites can uncover actual numbers)
The stats are difficult to...
I'm sorry, aren't you discussing God Energy here?
Perhaps you could suggest a better method of research on this topic than listening to the theories of others?
Do you know of any good books on the topic?
I would assume the authors of said books, were guessing.
Revelations aside, when do you...
