  • Eddy, I'm wondering if we misunderstand each other. Maybe when it comes down to it, we actually agree on most points.
Eddy, how is there no Maya involved? Being conscious of our physical appearance and caring about what others think of us is absolutely Maya. It's an illusion to place importance on such material things.

I actually disagree with you about the 'worship, only' philosophy. This might suit some people but it does not sit well with me. It is very important for me to have Realisations, to have wisdom and knowledge, as well as Bhakti. I don't want to be a drone and worship some idea (God) that I have no understanding of. I want to -know- who I am worshipping. And I want to know my Self (soul) and my eternal relationship with the Lord. If I were to ignore this longing, I'd be forcing myself to follow blindly. I can't do that. This is why there are different Dharmas- because we all reach the Supreme through our own unique path.
Nah, I was just debating a point and one that I think is important. Religious people seem to go to extremes in my experience. They either use the religion as a means of inflating their ego or gaining power or they repress themselves and feel a lot of guilt and anger both toward themselves for having human desires and others for thinking differently.
So you comment put me in mind of the people who consider normal human behaviour to be 'abhorrent'. I can see what you are saying, that what one wears is of no real importance. But I would never go as far as to say that I abhor it.
I understand the maya of being self conscious but I do not abhor it. I always thought the idea that having to wear Indian clothing was stupid, but I don't feel bad about dressing up. I don't feel guilty for not being a Self-Realised soul. I know my vanities and accept them while also accepting that one day I will overcome them. One perk of going to the temple was dressing up. Another was being able to worship Hari with my fellow devotees.
I'm mainly trying to follow the forum rules and demand respect in the individual Judaism DIR, par Forum Rules.
every group, of each distinct religion or religious identity and belief has been entitled an individual DIR where they should be free to use constructively without the interference of members who do not belong to that community.
All other Members demand what I demand right now in the Judaism DIR when they feel that their DIR is being jeopardized.
Every time I check the Who's Online you're looking at it too. It feels like getting caught spying :D
I am sorry if I misunderstood your intentions. Personally, I believe in the transcendent unity of all religions. Differences exist only on the theological or exoteric front.
Thank you Eddy. I will have to read it. But you can provide a gist, if possible?
