I think it would be easier to bond with someone who has similar beliefs to you. I'm sure that people with different beliefs can get along, but I just imagine it would be easier to connect if you were the same religion. Then again I may just be the worst person possible to ask advice on this topic!
I accidentally clicked "No," in response to the title of the thread, rather than the actual poll question. But I do not think they are objectionable at all.
With the influx of Latin American immigrants, the US is becoming more and more Catholic, but there has always been a fairly decent portion dating back to the early 20th century, when Irish, Italian, and Polish immigrants (among others) brought Catholicism here with them.
What I was talking about when I posted it didn't have anything to do with the Nicene Creed, but eating the actual body and blood of Christ. I have heard the Church's reasoning for not giving communion to non-Catholics, but it is the one thing in the whole Catechism that doesn't make sense to me.
I think this is especially significant:
"The progressive expansion of the Benedictine Order which he founded exercised an enormous influence on the spread of Christianity throughout the European continent."
I hope Pope Benedict is as successful as his namesake in spreading Christianity not...
I think he's not saying that earthly possessions are necessarily evil, but love of them is. Our first love should be God. If God calls on you to give something up, you should not be so attached to it that you cannot. I think we are all called in one way or another to make sacrifices for God...
This applies to everyone, and is especially suited to the reading from this past Sunday:
"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light." 1...
The most important part of Chuch is the Holy Communion. If for no other reason, you should go for that. Also, it can't hurt to have an expert who has dedicated his life to God interpret and relate the scriptures for you. Finally, there's something to be said for being in the physical presence of...
We have no place to judge others. That's up to the Lord. And certainly don't worry about their eternal damnation at such a young age, they will probably mature and get over some of it. I realized one thing while I was praying for God to help my family once- God gave me two hands, I can get up...
The reading of his book, "Crossing the Threshold of Hope," was one of the seminal events in my life, and his unwavering moral conviction served as a guide for me in my development. He is personally responsible for bringing me and many others like me closer to the Church. Add to that the fact...
I read
"Message of Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger to the Communion and Liberation (CL) meeting at Rimini (24-30 August 2002) on the theme: "The Feeling of Things, the Contemplation of Beauty""

It was hard to wrap your head around, but I managed to wade through it, and it was very...
I think it's appropriate. People were talking about the ability of a Latin American or African Pope to evangelize these developing areas, but the more difficult evangelical mission will probably be in developed countries like Western Europe and America. Benedict speaks fluent English, German...
I had a great uncle, Gerry, who was one of my favorite people of all time. I don't know anyone who met him that didn't like him. He was a Knight of Columbus, so they're ok in my book.
