No*s:
This is what I'm talking about when I compared Christians to Bill Clinton. We base our beliefs on what we want to believe, and then try and find a way to make the Bible say what we want it to - the definition of "is". An outsider must think this as quite a spectacle.
You're right. But...
I think it depends how far you go with it.
If we're talking about sisters and brothers (or parents...) then I can see how it could be viewed as immoral.
Cousins, no, I don't see much of a problem with it. I think that's just a recent cultural thing. I believe that Washington and Lincoln both...
I believe he would be considered "male".
I understand that God is an impossible thing to envision, or rationalise, but I think that there's enough evidence in the Bible to justifiable believe Him to be "male". (note quoatations...)
Judas was guilty in the sense that he did it, but wan't necessarily the cause of it.It was gong to happen regardless, but it was still betrayal - it was in Judas' heart to do it. I don't believe that he was "set up", or anything, I do believe his blame is justified.
Beautifully put..... for both sides.
As for the archaeology,I have to be realistic and say that I don't think it will help Christians out all that much. It's just supporting material events that we believed to be true. It will help make the Bible more credible as a history book, but not as...
If you hold this standpoint then all you're doing is meausring God, aren't you? You try and decide which is good, which is bad, and which is even worst. What should we be judged for and what shouldn't we?
Well, for one thing, it's quite arrogant to say that God "should, or shouldn't". But...
That's good stuff. This could also apply to many, many aspects of the Christian Church... though maybe not all. I think Christian life boils down to to "It's the person not what the person does." The Biblical Pharisees were an excellent example of the wrong way to God!
Like I said.... begin with evolution. Tell me how the creation story is right, and evolution is wrong. I would have utmost respect for you if you could.
If it's inerrantly true, there are a lot of things that need some sort of explaning. First off I'd like somebody to adequately debate evolution. I don't particularly like to agree with evolution, and I was raised not too, but 10,000 PhD's make a rather strong case for it.
