A good atheist goes to hell, but a bad Christian goes to heaven?

Nor is it unique to Christianity. But I figure you already know that.

Atheists: Does Energy fall under Magical Thinking?

Define what a "God" is. Create a hypothesis in regards to it's existence. Apply scientific method and experiment.

God may punish but eternity in hell?

In reality, no there isn't. Totalitarian regimes try to get as close as possible but that's all they can do. However, when discussing a hypothetical omnipresent, omniscience then it comes into play.

God may punish but eternity in hell?

Assisting? Yeah you tell that to the folks at places like RR. And personally I've never heard a Christian claim that their theology says that God is assisting people that are in hell. It's described as a one way ticket. Also you're own book contradicts your notion on the inflictions of hell...

God may punish but eternity in hell?

And gasp, there are Christians out there that would disagree. Not that I care really. Again I don't care what Christians do with their mythology beyond when it effects other people. I don't care. I don't go to them. Punishment for thoughtcrime. Seriously, read my post from earlier.

God may punish but eternity in hell?

I seriously hope you're not saying that if someone thinks thoughtcrime is a repugnant idea that you don't have a capacity to understand other sorts of evil?

God may punish but eternity in hell?

It apparently worked for centuries for a lot of Christians and hey tis the season. One of the features around America this time of year for Halloween is churches that do. "Hell Houses." Where kids can walk through and be "scared" by haunted house variants meant to be like scarey ole hell. But...

God may punish but eternity in hell?

It depends on the Christian you ask. Either way you're still dealing with a punishment levied for thoughtcrime. I find that idea totally repugnant.

    Science beats religion

That you can reconcile both ideas really has absolutely nothing to do with what I am saying.

God may punish but eternity in hell?

Even if I didn't find the whole concepts of heaven and hell ridiculous. I'd reject Christianity's hell concept on not to mention the contradiction of omniscience to the ideas of salvation/damnation. But the fact that you're dealing with sending people to eternal torture for thoughtcrime. I'm...

    Science beats religion

Philosophy is better at religion than that and tends not to predicate itself on unproven ontological statements like religion does. The idea that religion makes no assertions as to how the universe works is a modern idea. For myself I would not put it in terms of science beats religion. It...

“Magic Thinking” – The best thing since sliced bread!

I think the irony of religion, personally speaking, is that it's socially acceptable superstition. It's certainly often more complex and developed superstition than say, "Step on a crack, break your mothers back." But the ultimate basis of both are rooted in the same thing. And of course what is...

    Recognition of Same-Sex Relationships, 1989-2010

The day gay marriage is a national reality in America. I'm either throwing a party or going to someone's party and hopefully get a chance to call up my daughter and let her know America became a better place that day.

“Magic Thinking” – The best thing since sliced bread!

^This. I'd like to say one day we could get rid of superstition and supernaturalism through education but I think the best we can manage as a species is to minimize it's effect.

This is my problem with Most Christians

Shhhhh...you're going to reveal the atheist/pagan baby eating cookouts we're scheduling! :o
