I wish I knew how to change it so that those who are most competent to work for peace were the leaders in this world. I suspect there actually might be a way to engineer that, but I also suspect it will never be tried. Do I sound too cynical?

You know, it's totally frustrating to know that there are people -- many people -- who could sit down and resolve the Israeli/Palestinian conflict within a few months of negotiations, while the people who are seemingly incapable of anything but war are the ones in power. What we have is a failure of leadership on all sides of the issue.

      Thanks ma'am :)
I believe Islam is a religion of reason, so I try to make a reasonable choice of conversations as much as possible. I only hope Muslims world wide would do the same :(

You've made some great posts in that Hobby Lobby thread! Thanks for that! Also, I'm with you -- it would be quite interesting to see if the Supreme Court was just as adamant in defending the rights of an employer to deny Viagra and such to men as it is to deny birth control to women. Something tells me the answer is "no".

Well, we've got commonsense and science on our side. I looked it up. Even the scientists who think spanking does little or no harm place so many restrictions on what they consider spanking that you might as well say their kind of spanking seldom happens in real life. For instance, Shireen, spanking to them is no more than two open handed swats to the butt that do not produce pain. Do not produce pain? Gimme a break! When people spank their kids, they want to produce pain.
