      Completely wrong about Marvel movies.

The last several marvel movies had the good guys as rogue agents because the military and central government were too corrupt to do the right thing. All superhero movies to some extent laud vigilantism even when it directly conflicts with law, and marvel is no exception. When Ironman worked with the US government and military to enact the registration act in Civil War, putting the power of superheros under the control of military authority, he was shown, in no uncertain terms, to be wrong. And eventually betrayed the US military for 'the greater good.'

@ADigitalArtist Your point about vigilantism is fair but ultimately I think the purpose served is similar to the classic rule-breaking but moral cop trope. The superheroes break with legality, but it's almost always for saving the pre-existing order and managing it's problems, rather than ever addressing the many real systemic issues that actually face most people.

@Labourwave interesting. I agree that there are certainly tropes like that. And I think an Ironman who places more money into systemic social change would be more realistically viable for long term social wellness. Would be a pretty boring comic though.
