Kannappa was a great saint and an ardent devotee of Shiva. While worshipping the Lingam, he noticed that one of the eyes on the Lingam was bleeding. He felt sorry, and in his Bhakti (devotion) tried to gauge his own eye out to give to Shiva. But Shiva stopped him and rewarded his great devotion.
