I've never been much of a Star Trek fan (except for a summer playing "Star Fleet Battles" when I was 13), so I'd never heard this phrase before. Thanks. Very interesting stuff.

And welcome to RF, it's a pleasure to get to know you a bit more, Marka.

I see in your profile that you don't have a religion, which is obviously perfectly fine. I was wondering whether you're a theist or an atheist?

Let's just say I'm in the middle of the road. Still searching. Though I found something but... I wouldn't want to go too deep into that right here and now but as soon as I'm done with the work here, I hope to start posting in the forums. I guess I'll have a few experiences to share and a few questions to ask here.

Also, aside from Star Trek, what kind of Sci-Fi do you like? Do you also like Fantasy? I'd be curious to hear what your other favorites are.

Nope, I'm afraid I don't like fantasy at all. I'm more into hard-core sci-fi. Asimov and Orwell might be two names that you can recognize. Also, borderline, maybe Dick and a few others. Orwell comes closest to my idea. Coming from the country that has been under socialist oppression for many years, I adore all metaphors about freedom. Another aspect that fascinates me is the fate of an individual against the fate of the society or civilization. There is a lot of that in Star-Trek, too, if you know where to look. :) Looking at my shelf now, the first few names at hand are: Abramov, Lem, Zajdel, Grundkowksi, Boruccy, Diłow... mostly Polish and Russian authors. Except Lem, you've probably never heard of them.

By the way, feel free to open up the rest of the staff threads and ask questions. It might help you get to know us better. :D I'm sure you're just as curious about us as we are about you.

I've already read some. I wish I could be everywhere at the same time... :) It's a great suggestion, though, I didn't think of this. I'll do it when the time allows. I'm really sorry but there is only one of me. :rainbow1:

Or wait until I retire and start translating them myself. ;) While I generally hate translating, I once did translate a whole film because I wanted to share it with my Dad. I discovered that I may enjoy it if I'm translating something interesting for me.

This project will have to wait a long time, though. At least after I've finished my novel, first. :D
