Back from the Great White North

Well, we're finally back from the family travels (or travails) of the summer, and soon our son starts college.

I've been off a bit due to travel, but more because I ended up in the ER in serious need of drugs, but after that mess I am actually feeling better than I have in months.

Eibhlin went to Great Lakes Feis (Irish dance competition) and took a 3rd in the slip jig, which considering this is a huge feis (1300 competitors) and the field in her category was quite large, is really rather good.

Now we're back in town and I'm scrambling to get Eibhlin's other dance classes set up, so will be on here slightly for about another week. Then I'll be bored stupid with no son around to tease and waiting for Eibhlin to finish maths lessons, so you can guess where I'll be. ;)

I hope you've all been well and will be working to get caught up in the next few days!

Eep! Sorry to hear about you having to make a trip to the ER, Booko. At least a bit of good came with the bad, eh? :) It's awesome Eibhlin got third place!

What happened? Do you want to share?

Oh, it's just part of the few years of detoxing I have ahead of me, but that beats being bedridden with no hope of recovery, eh?

Basically my liver started dumping toxins far too fast for the body to handle, and I ended up with a headache that made me glad I have no access to guns.

My kids were able to help me out considerably with some kinesiology and other natural healing methods, but it wasn't quite enough. Since I was out of town and there wasn't a doc on the level of mine back home to handle the situation, I had to resort to heavy duty drugs of the sort they give to people having serious migraines.

They drugged me up good so I could relax and sleep until the episode was over. It's happened a few times before.

There are some up sides to all of it, though:

1. I'm not paranoid about this happening again, because if it does I now know what meds aren't poisoned by corn that I can take that will work.

2. For months now I've been constantly achy -- now the achiness is mostly gone. Apparently whatever I dumped was pretty considerable. My energy level has gone up as well. yay!

That was a great venue for a feis, too! I think we'll make a point of going back to that one next year.

There was one lady in Eibhlin's group who had qualified for the next level, but for whatever reason hadn't bumped up. She may have needed more complicated steps or soemthing like that. But with a ringer, I'd say getting 3rd in the slip jig was pretty good.

She hasn't placed in a hard shoe event yet, but we have a couple more feisianna before the regionals (oreichtas).

If you're really bored Sat. Nov. 17th, come see us at Feis ATL. :D

Which Great White North? Alaska? Canada? Iceland? Is that a standard term for an actual place that I am too dense to recognise? :D

Good grief! I'm so sorry!

Are you taking some homeopathic meds for detoxing or something?

I live on homeopathics and herbal supplements for detoxing. :faint: And I have an EB-305 detox footbath. Sometimes I can even see my feet in the water when it's done.

Well, after 4+ decades of poisoning, it's no surprised it may take a bit to detox. I'm very lucky I never drank significantly, never smoked, and was too darned cheap to bother with drugs. Frugality pays off...haha. If I'd indulged myself in any of that, my liver would probably really be shot now, but it's on the mend. huzzah!
