Love the villains?

Does anyone else here love the villains? Often they are my favorite characters and I have a hard time properly hating them like I'm supposed to...lol. Sometimes it seems like the more evil they are, the more I'm drawn to them. It can be nearly any kind of villain too...the mastermind, the misunderstood villain, the calculated sadist, the crazy psychotic barbarian. I just love them all. I love the crazed look in their eyes when they're smiling. I don't know. I think my wiring isn't quite right, ya know? I've never met anyone who loves the villains the way I do. I just screen-capped 350 images of the Kurgan from Highlander. I'm going to make a little shrine to him on my domain. Not like anyone else in the world really wants to look at 350 pictures of Clancy Brown dressed like a medieval headbanger on a bloodthirsty, murderous rampage. :cover:

Maybe your attraction to villians has something to do with your Luciferianism....

....or maybe not. I like villians too. I've heard that a story is only as good as its villian.

See my sig? That's a line from the greatest villian in all of literature.

There could be a connection there somewhere, but I don't think it's a really important one because I loved the villains long before I became a Luciferian. If there is a connection, I would say that whatever it is that makes me love the villains may also be whatever it is that makes me Luciferian. I don't know why I am the way I am...

Well, that is a little disturbing. The real question is how would you feel about the same characters if they existed in real life? I can like villians as characters, but in real life I would hate them. However, some villians possess certain certain good qualities. Take the Angel Rosiel for an example. He is a warped psychopath, but Rosiel is cheerful, handles deadly situations with ease, has lots of personal authority, and is a ****. Wait, is that last one a good trait? :p

When I was a kid my favorite bedtime story was the one about how Lucifer fell from heaven. :D

I love a good villain, especially if they have character development and aren't evil for the sake of being evil.

i have always loved the villain that turns good, but keeps the villain psychology. i don't know why, but i just find something really attractive about that

I too love the villains from story and show. I like Naraku from Inuyasha as a villain, and Sephiroth for FF7, and Kenpachi from Bleach(but he's more of the Anti-Hero on the good guy side), oh and Grimmjow from Bleach(he's like Kenpachi in personality but a villain. Oh look at me having a FanBoy moment.

My favorite cartoon character ever is Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty. Her prime motivation: nobody sent her an invitation to the party.

'Nuff said. :)

No, I don't think I'd like them in real life. Even in real life, they sometimes have good traits, but I'm not cool with rape and murder. It's great in a story though. Instead, I seem to find good people that share some of the good qualities that villains do have.

I like both kinds for different reasons. The misunderstood villains are good because I can relate to them...I can see how they were pushed into their situations. The truly evil villains are enjoyable because they are pure villains...they are just evil incarnate...they are the manifestation of a concept...

Do you have a thing for anti-heroes too? I love a good anti-hero!

Draka

Wonder Woman
I admit it, I watch soaps. That said, I do occassionally love to see the bad guy who does all these underhanded things get the best of people. Especially when it's two underhanded villians going at each other. It's fun to watch.

Now I like a good anti-hero too. Like Wolverine from X-men. The guys who aren't all noble, who don't go out of their way to be all heroic, but end up being a hero anyway because somewhere deep down inside them they know it is the right thing to do. They almost do it begrudgingly, but they do it none-the-less.

As long as you can seperate fantasy and reality I don't see a problem.

WHAT?!
Both of those guys are crazy, narcissistic, psychopathic, megalomaniacal, twisted, sadistic, freaks. You do realize they enjoy killing for killing's sake.

Sephiroth is "traumatized"? Please. He is a spawn of Jenova (is this the Japanese way of opposing Christianity. Jehova versus Jenova?), The Calamity that Fell from the Sky.

Sephiroth has evil written in his veins and despite the fact that his human birth (do you see the Christianity connection? The evil doctor places the seed of Jenova in a human woman... eh? eh?) allows him connection with the human condition, resting within the depths of subconscious are his will to destroy everything. Please.

Point, so there my favs. Maybe they're my way of letting out how I truly feel deep down inside.

Actually in one of the new Final Fantasy games coming out for the PSP, you get to see Sephiroth as he was before he went insane. As it looks from the previews, other than the weight you'd expect there to be on a person from being a war hero and revered by so many, he was relatively normal. It's only once he get knowledge of where he came from that he's slowly driven to insanity. It's that part that's the appeal, to me. That idea that there's that potential to go down that dark side within each of us, and looking at these characters is like looking at the result.

Storm

ThrUU the Looking Glass
I don't know if he counts, but Londo Mollari of Babylon 5 is one of my favorite characters of all time. I consider him a tragic villain (as opposed to the tragic hero): all he ever wanted was to help his people, and he ended up dooming them.

Melisande Sharizai of the Kushiel's Legacy trilogy is pure villain, though, and I adore her. Elegant, Machiavellian, brilliant, deadly, ruthless, proud, subtle, always three steps ahead, and more enamored of the game than the prize.

Booko

Deviled Hen
I'm not a Luciferian, nor do I play one on teevee, but I generally find villains and anti-heroes more interesting.

There was a poll recently on Superman or Batman, and the choice was obvious for me: Batman all the way.

What's so interesting about a character that is saintly? Where there's no room for growth?

There's a difference between fictional villains and real life sociopaths, though. Real life sociopaths I don't find so interesting. I could wish they got a chance to go back and have a childhood that wouldn't turn them out as sociopaths, but beyond that, there's nothing interesting in completely pure self-absorbed self-interest either.
