I was vaccinated and still caught Covid twice
You work in that disease ridden petri dish called "government".
My advice...
Retire, & avoid people.

I've yet to catch Covid.
Or....if I have, I had no symptoms.
BTW, just got my 5th Covid vaccine.

Exactly. And to add on, the virus that causes the common cold evolves a bit every year. Cold vaccines are made using estimates of how it will evolve. This is not perfect. So some years we have very effective flu shots and some years we do not. Since Covid evolves too we may be stuck with it for some time.

Both immunity acquired via infection and by the vaccine contribute towards immunity.

The concept of herd immunity relies on transmission rates being reduced enough that each infected person on average infects less than one further person. As the number of cases is broadly stable or declining, rather than increasing, that suggests we do have herd immunity now.

Herd immunity does not means there are no more cases, ever, just that those case we do continue to have stay at a low level, rather than growing out of control.

My wife has gotten Covid several times. Sometimes with no symptoms sometimes more severe.
Maybe depends on how the virus has evolved when you are reinfected.

I had Covid before the vaccine. First time I got the vaccine I had Covid symptoms again. Second time, no symptoms. They told me at the time the vaccine was the same both times. I suspect as the virus evolves, sometimes your immune system recognizes it quickly and prevents infection sometimes it takes more time for your immune system to recognize the virus and create the right antibodies.

But if you can get a multiple times because it mutates then how is exposure immunity or herd community logical ? You're much, much, much more likely to die from it by catching it as opposed to getting vaccinated.

Even the studies say that regardless of vaccination, the more times you catch Covid-19 the more likely you are to die

The more times you wake up in the morning, the more likely you are to die.

The likeliness of death in this life is 100%.
How much more likely to die can you get than that?

When you get a virus, such as with covid, if you survive, your immunity may dissipate after many months, but your body still retains "memory cells". Thus, if you get a variant later, your body can produce new antibodies over time, but the question is whether it can produce them fast enough? For those of us who are elderly, it takes our body longer, which begs the question will they be there in enough time?

BTW, the same also applies when one is vaxed, and my wife & I are fully vaxed.

Vaccinations may not be perfect, but they do two things. First, they do lower your odds of catching the disease in the first place. They are never 100% effective in that regard. Second and more important, they do lessen the severity of the disease if you do catch it. In the US Trump supporters were less likely to get the vaccine. The counties with high percentages of Trump supporters had a higher covid death rate than Biden counties. In our last serious surge of cases the unvaccinated were about seven more times likely to die than the vaccinated.

In other words the vaccines aren't perfect but they still work. Seatbelts are not perfect in an auto crash. But they do greatly increase the odds of surviving one.

Me too! As far as I know, I have never had COVID or maybe I've just never had symptoms.
I've taken a ton of tests - all negative. And got my boosters.
