Forum Raid

Forum Raid

For those that do not know what a Forum Raid is, it is the gathering of a forum posse who temporary log on and register to another site and engage in debate. It is like a Panty Raid but instead of panties, the victors come back with the other forum member's faith or beliefs.

Has anyone ever been involved in a Forum raid? Was it reigious or non-religious. If religious what, denomination was it?

Has any RF members come to aid of another RF member to raid another forum site?

Does RF have statutes and rules about this?

We were the victim of a raid a while back. I haven't been a part of one though.

No. But when I was Admin I would strongly suggest people not do this and the couple times it was mentioned doing something like this to another forum, the thread was immediately removed.

Let's be above such sophomoric behaviors.

I, for one, could never support nor condone RF participating in any forum raids.

I just now noticed that there was no Admin in your user panel. Where was I when this happen?

I encourage it for no other reason than I think it would be funny, I was SOTT76 and Dr. Nosophoros on Radio Satan 666.com, Fishfinger on "Christian Forums" which I was quickly banned from, I had the best intentions going in, then I typed things I knew would get me banned after I saw the environnment, Rickshaw (a far rightist) and Comrade Stalin on political forums, (I don't know who the hell I was on Soviet Empire.com) and I was the "Exalted Arshlock" (arshlock is German for A$$hole) on Occult forum which I quickly abandoned because of the prevalence of E- wizards and E-witches that "commanded" all types of forces above and below the sun except the English language.

I don't think it's sophomoric at all.

Do you mean www.occultforums.com specifically? Just curious.

Lacking Common Sense
A forum raid sounds like great fun if it's done right, and you never know a similar forum's admins might go for it if their members can reciprocate!

In my experience tho admins actively discourage any exposure to similar forums for obvious reasons...

I think the closest thing that we have to a rule about this is

18.) Blatant adverts will not be tolerated, neither will the blatant bashing of other boards/forums.

I'm not sure how one could 'forum raid' others without bashing them. (Even if it's not talked about on these forums.) I wouldn't want other forums to think badly of us.

I participated in one once, back in my younger days. But to be fair, the person whos forum we raided started it. It was so long ago that I don't remember exactly what went on, but I know it started with Miss Fiona Horne visiting my friends website and blog and leaving some nasty comments (something about how "real Wiccans are light and not dark like you" or something like that), and in return we went to her forum and basically badgered her about her lack of historical knowledge and scholarship in her writing. She got upset and the forum has been closed ever since.

Personally I think her writings and her atrocious "celebrity" appearances are a disgrace to the Pagan community, and I think she deserved to be taken down a peg or two.

Panty raids are much more fun though.

That does sound like an instance where one could see it being 'justified'. How incredibly sad that someone would belittle others in such a way.

Jack of all trades... :)
Personally the whole concept of "forum raid" sounds like spam to me.
We would'nt want it done to us and I would lose all respect for RF if it participated in such actions.
I dont think RF would though, considering I read the rules before joining and they seem to expressly forbid it.

So what exactly is a forum raid? A raid by one forum to another one for the sole purpose of spamming/flamming?
