WHERE IS THE SCRIPTURE THAT SAYS GOD'S 4th COMMANDMENT IS ABOLISHED?

Well lets be honest. The seventh day Sabbath is about Gods rest (Genesis 2:1-3). However, what you are leaving out is God blessed and made the seventh day Sabbath a holy day of rest for all mankind according to Jesus (Mark 2:27; Genesis 2:1-3) and God made this same seventh day Sabbath one of His 10 commandments (Exodus 20:8-11) the give us the knowledge of good (moral right doing when obeyed) and evil (moral wrong doing when disobeyed); sin (moral wrong doing when disobeyed) and righteousness (moral right doing when obeyed - see Romans 3:20; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4 and Psalms 119:172. According to James in the new covenant if we break anyone of Gods 10 commandments we stand guilty before God of sin in James 2:10-11.

Revelation 20:6 has no application to Genesis 1:1-31 and Genesis 2:1-3. A day in Genesis 1:1-5 is made up of a night and a day and there are seven of these in a week and every seventh day is the Sabbath day according to the scriptures (Exodus 20:10).

Sure there is. You just do not want to see it beause you do not believe the scriptures shared with you. Lets be honest please. Is Gods Sabbath that God made for mankind (Mark 2:27) on the seventh day of the creation week, and blessed and made a holy day of rest for mankind (Genesis 2:1-3) one of Gods laws and commandments? Genesis 26:5 5, Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws. (go look up the Hebrew word for "my laws"). Before the written Word of God, God's people had the spoken Word of God which they believed and followed. Its time to unlearn the lies they have been teaching us at Sunday school dear friend. There is not a single scripture in all the bible that says Gods 4th commandment of the 10 commandments has now been abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a holy day of rest in honor of the resurrection of Jesus. Sunday worship is a man-made teaching and tradition that has led many away from God and His Word to break the commandments of God against the very warnings of Jesus in Matthew 15:3-9. Jesus says here all those who follow man-made teachings and traditions that lead us away from God and His Word to break the commandments of God are not worshiping God. This then of course begs the question, who do we believe and follow; God or man? Jesus says you shall know them by their fruits (see Matthew 7:13-23 and compare with 1 John 2:3-4)

As shown through the scriptures earlier, the purpose of Gods 10 commandments is to give us the knowledge of good (moral right doing when obeyed) and evil (moral wrong doing when disobeyed); sin (moral wrong doing when disobeyed) and righteousness (moral right doing when obeyed - see Romans 3:20; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4 and Psalms 119:172. According to James in the new covenant if we break anyone of Gods 10 commandments we stand guilty before God of sin in James 2:10-11.

According to the scripture love is not separate from obedience to Gods law. Love is expressed from the heart by obeying Gods laws (see John 14:15; John 15:10; Matthew 22:36-40; Romans 13:8-10; James 2:8-12; 1 John 5:2-3). The 10 are how love is expressed to God and our neighbour and always have been ( see old covenant scriptures here, Deuteronomy 7:9; 11:1, 22; 19:9; 30:16; Joshua 22:5; Nehemiah 1:5; Danial 9:4). This is why Jesus tells says that on these two great commandments of love to God and neighbor hang all the law and the prophets in Matthew 22:36-40. So to say we love God by breaking Gods law shows we do not know God or the truth of Gods Word according to John in 1 John 2:2-3. Seriously man, think your argument through. Are you really going to try and argue that if we love our neighbor we are now free to lie to them, steal from them, murder them or commit adultery with their spouse? Love is expressed from the heart by obeying Gods law not breaking Gods law. Breaking Gods law according to the scriptures is the very definition of what sin is according to the scriptures in 1 John 3:4; Romans 7:7; Romans 3:20. Sin will keep all those who practice it out of Gods kingdom (see Matthew 7:21-23; Hebrews 10:26-31) because according to John those who practice sin (break Gods law) are the children of the devil and do not know God according to 1 John 3:4-10 and 1 John 2:3-4. Receive Gods Words and be blessed dear friend. Ignoring then do not make them disappear. According to Jesus they become our judge come judgement day (John 12:47-48). Its time to unlearn all the lies we have all been taught from Sunday school. Jesus says you shall know them by their fruits (see Matthew 7:13-23 and compare with 1 John 2:3-4), that is who is from God and who is not.

Take care.
One step at a time!
Firstly, you acknowledge that Genesis 2:2 is not about the sabbath of man; it's about the sabbath of God! This is important because it shows that the sabbath of man is not made a part of any covenant until the time of Moses (in the book of Exodus). Evidence is to be found of two prior covenants, made with Noah and with Abraham, neither of which mention the keeping of the sabbath as a day of rest. Why was Noah not required to rest on the sabbath?

Then we have the issue of the priesthood, whose job it is to work within the temple. These people do not rest on the sabbath, they work. Interestingly, Jesus said that he, too, was working, just as his Father was working [John 5:17]. How could Jesus be resting on the sabbath, if he was working? How can the weekly sabbath be God's day of rest, if the Father is also working?

By confusing God's day of rest with the weekly day of rest instituted as part of the Mosaic covenant, you have become caught in a legalistic trap.

What practices do you define as being work, and which practices do you define as rest? You must be able to make such distinctions if you are to follow the law to rest from work. So you drive a car on the sabbath? Play sport? Do you begin the sabbath at sundown and carry it through to the following sundown on Saturday? All these things matter if you are going to claim obedience to the law.

Then we have Gods Word that says... Genesis 26:5 5, Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.
These were all commandments and laws given specifically to Abraham. Where is the commandment telling Abraham to keep a day of rest every seventh day?

There is no scripture to support this teaching. There is no scripture also that says everyday is the Sabbath in the new earth. Gods Sabbath according to the scriptures is an everlasting covenant (see Exodus 31:16) and as such will be continued to be kept in the new heavens and the new earth according to the scriptures; Isaiah 66:22-23 22, For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. 23, And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD. The bible teaches nowhere that every day is a Sabbath now or in the future. Its time to unlearn all the lies they have been teaching us in Sunday school.

Take Care.
Does lsaiah say 'every Sabbath', or 'from one sabbath to another'? There's a big difference, with the latter including all the days in between!

No! I did not say any such thing. Please read the post you are quoting from before commenting as it will save some time. There was no one else. Abraham is the father of Israel and Gods Word and promise were to Abraham and His seed Israel (the Church)

According to the scriptures the Sabbath is the seventh day of the week (see Exodus 20:10; Genesis 2:1-3). Isaiah says that we will be keeping the Sabbath in the new heavens and the new earth from one Sabbath to another. That means every "seventh day" Sabbath according to the scriptures. Not by man.

Genesis should be read as it relates to the whole of the Pentateuch with each having its own purpose.
Genesis explains the origin of the people who became the first citizens of God's kingdom Israel.
Exodus recounts the actual birth of the kingdom at Sinai. Leviticus the holy nature of the kingdom.
Numbers describes its communal organization and emphasizes the need for a hierarchy of authority..
Deuteronomy the spirit of love by which the citizens of the kingdom are to be animated in relation to God and to each other.

How can the fourth commandment be a holy day of rest for all mankind, if it is conditional? The covenant made with Moses was made with lsrael, not all mankind.

Mark 2:27 is being interpreted by you as referring to the weekly sabbath of man, but there is no reason to think it is not referring to God's day of rest, His sabbath.

The only sabbath that applies to all mankind is the sabbath of the millennium, which is yet future. The future sabbath 'day' is tied to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

How do you explain Galatians 3:19?

The law was not the goal of God's plan. The goal was for man to live by spirit and truth in love. This is only achieved through faith in the righteousness of God, which is the Spirit of Christ.

There was no Moses, no Jew, no Israel when Jesus says in Mark 2:27 that God made the Sabbath for mankind. There was only sinless Adam and Eve created on the 6th day of creation Genesis 1:27-31. You do err not knowing the scriptures.

The sabbath lS the seventh day of the week, but man's week is not the same as God's week!

Why did Jesus continue to do God's work if God wanted him to rest?

Obedience to God's law through love has always been Gods plan. It is the new covenant promise from Jeremiah 31:31-34; Ezekiel 36:24-27 repeated in Hebrews 8:10-12. According to the scripture love is not separate from obedience to Gods law. Love is expressed from the heart by obeying Gods laws (see John 14:15; John 15:10; Matthew 22:36-40; Romans 13:8-10; James 2:8-12; 1 John 5:2-3) in all those who through faith have been born again to walk in Gods Spirit *see 1 John 3:4-9; Galatians 5:16. The 10 are how love is expressed to God and our neighbour and always have been ( see old covenant scriptures here, Deuteronomy 7:9; 11:1, 22; 19:9; 30:16; Joshua 22:5; Nehemiah 1:5; Danial 9:4). Nope. According to Genesis 2:1-3 God rested on the Sabbath and blessed the seventh day and made it as holy day of rest for mankind according to Jesus (Mark 2:27). It is you that does err in your understanding of scripture.

I am not suggesting that the moral law be broken, and Jesus did not break the moral law when he worked on the sabbath! [I notice you have failed to explain John 5:17]

Maybe you can now explain to me how you hope to keep the sabbath commandment without making it a legalistic issue!

I don't have an issue with the sabbath, because all days are the same to me. My worship, in spirit and truth, is not affected by 'holy days'.

No the aim of all your arguments has been that obedience to Gods law through love is not a requirement for Christian living. The post you are quoting from exposes why you are in error in your thinking here. As posted earlier, It is not being legalistic to believe and obey Gods Word from the heart in someone that has been born again into Gods new covenant promise to walk in His Spirit *John 3:3-7; 1 John 3:4-9; Galatians 5:16; Romans 3:31. Lets be honest dear friend, no one has ever said to you anywhere in this forum that we are saved by keeping the law (legalism) and no one believes that we are saved by keeping the law. Why? Because according to the scriptures we have all sinned and broken Gods law and stand guilty before God of sin and death *Romans 3:8-20. According to the scriptures we are saved by Gods grace through faith and it is a gift of God and not of works lest any man should boast *Ephesians 2:8-9.

Genuine faith however believes and obeys Gods Word and obeys Gods law according to Paul in Romans 3:31. No one therefore can claim to have genuine faith if they do not believe and obey what Gods Word says. James also agreeing with Paul, says if we say we believe God but do no do what Gods Word says than all we have is the dead faith of devils in James 2:13-26. John also agrees with Paul and James when he gives us a test to help us to know if we know God or not in 1 John 2:3-4 when he says "And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him." So if we claim to know God but do no keep Gods commandments the scriptures state that we do not know God and are lying to ourselves and others having the dead faith of devils James talks about in James 2:13-26. These words are also in agreement with Jesus who also agrees with both James and John when he says in Matthew 7:21-23 "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. No one can claim to know God if they do not do what Gods Word says. Those who do not keep Gods commandments are the children of the devil according to John in John 3:6-10. You do err not knowing the scriptures (check the scripture references for everything that has been shared with you here dear friend. Our salvation depends on us believing and obeying what Gods Word says. According to the scriptures disobedience to Gods Word is the very definition of sin (1 John 3:4; Romans 14:23).

I agree that Jesus never broke the Sabbath. Breaking anyone of Gods 10 commandments is sin according to the scriptures (1 John 3:4; James 2:10-11; Romans 7:7; Romans 3:20), When the Scribes and the Pharisees accused Jesus of breaking the Sabbath it was according to their laws and traditions on how the Sabbath was to be kept and not according to the scriptures (John 5:15-19 is the context of John 5:17; Matthew 5:17). If Jesus broke the Sabbath then he could not have been our sinless sacrifice according to the scriptures (1 John 3:5; 1 Peter 2:22; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 4:15) and we would all be lost. Jesus came to teach us how the Sabbath was to be kept and that it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath (see Matthew 12:1-12) and that the Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath (Mark 2:27) and that He was the Lord and creator of the Sabbath. *Mark 2:28. Sorry I am not leaving you with any wiggle room. Ignoring Gods Words do not make them disappear. They become our judge come judgement day according to Jesus in John 12:47-48. My hope is that you will receive Gods corrections and be blessed.

Take Care.

Your response here...

Take Care.
1 John 2:3-4 is not talking about the 613 commandments found in the Torah, but the two commandments that summarize the law: Love God, and love your neighbour. We can be sure of this because John goes on to say in 1 John 2:10, 'He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.'

When a lawyer asked Jesus [Luke 10:25] what he had to do to inherit eternal life, Jesus replied, What is written in the law? how readest thou?
And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
And he answered unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.'

Nowhere here, or anywhere else that l can see, does scripture say that our eternal life is compromised by not keeping the weekly sabbath. If you find it helpful to keep a Saturday as a rest day, fine for you. It is not, however, an obligation on the Church, as the body of Christ.
Paul says in Romans 14:5: 'One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike, let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind'.

I am fully persuaded in my own mind that it is not a sin to treat every day alike. I'm also happy for those who choose to keep a day of rest, but l'm not happy when l hear someone denounce and judge others for not keeping the sabbath. To pass such a judgement is clear evidence that the person is not walking in the spirit of grace!

There you go again not reading what you are quoting from again. Here you are once more trying to also argue that loving God and neighbor is separate from obedience to those laws that teach us how to love God and neighbor. As posted earlier and proven through the scriptures, no one loves neighbor by breaking any of Gods 10 commandments that show us how we are to love our neighbor. This is why Jesus says in Matthew 22:36-40 that on these two great commandments of love to God and neighbor hang all the law and the prophets. 1 John 2:3-4 is indeed talking about Gods 10 commandments because the context from John in 1 John 2:1 is "These things I write unto you that you sin not... Sin is defined by so there is no wiggle room in 1 John 3:4 as breaking Gods law. So sin is the transgression of the law according to the context of 1 John 2:3-4 which says 3, And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 4, He that said, I know him, and keeps not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. These scriptures are a test to know if we know God or do not know God and if we believe and follow the truth or if we do not. Love is not separate from Gods law according to the scriptures, genuine faith that works by love is expressed in obeying Gods law (see Romans 3:31; 1 John 3:4-9).
Think about your argument here. Who is telling Jesus what they must do to be saved? It is the Lawyer, that is a Scribe of Pharisee that is an expert in Torah (old testament scriptures) answering his own question. Jesus also says the same thing with a slight modification in Matthew 22:36-40 where He is asked the question " 36, Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37, Jesus said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. 38, This is the first and great commandment. 39, And the second is like to it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40, On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Note here how Jesus links love to obedience to Gods law when he says "On these two commandments of love to God and neighbor hang all the law and the prophets"? Jesus is quoting from the same scriptures the Lawyer was quoting from found in Deuteronomy 6:5 and Leviticus 19:18 that are simple summing up Gods 10 commandments they show us our duty of love to God and neighbor. According to the torah the 10 are love (see Deuteronomy 7:9; 11:1, 22; 19:9; 30:16; Joshua 22:5; Nehemiah 1:5; Danial 9:4; Romans 13:9-10; 1 John 5:2-3). Love is therefore not separate from Gods law as you teach. According to the scriptures love is expressed in obeying to those laws that are our duty of love to God and neighbor. For example the same question asked by the Lawyer in Luke 10:25 was asked by the rich young ruler in Matthew 19:16-19 16, And, behold, one came and said to him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? 17, And he said to him, Why call you me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if you will enter into life, keep the commandments. 18, He said to him, Which? Jesus said, You shall do no murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, 19, Honor your father and your mother: and, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Note how once again Jesus links love to neighbor with obedience to those commandments in the 10 that show us our duty of love to neighbor. "On these two great commandments of love to God and neighbor hang all the law and the prophets (Matthew 22:36-40).

Not true at all. Sin according to the scriptures is breaking anyone of Gods 10 commandments and not believing and obeying what Gods Word says (see 1 John 3:4; Romans 7:7; Romans 3:20; James 2:10-11) once God gives us a knowledge of the truth (Acts 17:30-31; James 4:17) of His Word and we choose to reject Gods Word in unbelief in order to follow sin (Hebrews 10:26-31). These are all God's Words not my words. I do not judge you. According to Jesus it is the very words of God we choose to accept or reject that will be our judge come judgement day in John 12:47-48. On that day according to Jesus, "Not every one that said to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name? and in your name have cast out devils? and in your name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess to them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity. (Matthew 7:13-23). You close your eyes and ears in order to justify your sins because it is written in the Isaiah 6:9-10 9, Hear you indeed, but understand not; and see you indeed, but perceive not. Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed. Receive Gods correction through His Word and be blessed. Ignoring them does not make them disappear. I am not leaving you with any wiggle room dear friend. Do you want to show me where in Romans 14 that it is talking about Gods 10 commandments of Gods 4th commandment of the 10 commandments? You have to read your interpretation into the scripture because it does not say this anywhere in the Romans 14 or the entire bible. Romans 14 is talking about eating and not eating (fasting) on days that men esteem over other days and judging others in this regard. You do err not knowing scripture. It is time to unlearn the lies we have all been taught from Sunday school. God is calling those who have ears to hear and eyes to see back to His Word to worship Him in Spirit and in truth. God is a Spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in truth (John 4:23-24)

Take Care.

Hey guys

Just wondering where is the scripture that says Gods 4th commandment seventh day Sabbath has been abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a holy day of rest in honor of the resurrection of Jesus?

May God bless you as you seek to know Him through His Word.

Hi;
I don’t want a debate on the old covenant sabbath or how & why it is abrogated, but was curious of your saying the 4th commandment? how do you know which commandment is which or where the first ends and the second begins etc. ex 20 has the content of the commandments but not list or listings.
Thanks

Catholics, Protestants, and Jews all use the 17 verses, but they group them differently. Keeping the sabbath is #4 on the list for Catholics and Protestants, but for Catholics its #3.
