Wyoming becomes first state to ban abortion pills

The law is aimed at providers, not the pregnant woman.

'Violation of the ban is to be treated as a criminal misdemeanor, punishable by up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $9,000.

The measure stipulates that a woman “upon whom a chemical abortion is performed or attempted shall not be criminally prosecuted” '

I wonder if women will be able to contact providers out of state. Men can get Viagra on the internet, no doctor's appointment necessary. A pregnant woman may be able to do the same. Ship it her house in a plain box and how are they to know? Obviously Amazon would probably not want to do it, but FED Ex and UJPS only require shippers to notify them if a product is dangerous to ship. This may be a toothless law. It could generate a whole new type of business since Wyoming is not the only state with crazy people running it.

Yes, black market meds are likely to sell in response to this (as they are in states that have banned gender dysphoria treatment for minors and adults).

What exactly is an abortion pill?

Is the day after pill an abortion pill? The person may or may not be pregnant. Its more of just in case.

I do not now if the day after pill is covered by that law. A good percentage of abortions these days are done with just a couple of pills. They end the pregnancy and cause a miscarriage. No operations needed.

Currently over 50% of all abortions are medical, not surgical abortions:

In 2000, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved mifepristone as a method of abortion. Taken along with misoprostol, the two-drug combination is known as medication abortion or the "abortion pill." New research from the Guttmacher Institute shows that 20 years after its introduction, medication abortion accounted for more than half of all abortions in the United States.

Guttmacher Institute’s periodic census of all known abortion providers show that in 2020, medication abortion accounted for 53% of US abortions.

The fertilized egg doesn't implant right away. It is supposedly not considered a pregnancy until the egg implants. The pill is to be taken before implantation happens.

That is not correct. That is the morning after pill. It is not the same combo as the abortion pills one takes. Most actual abortions, that is women that have tested positive for pregnancy are done chemically today. I posted a link that supported that claim very early in this thread. The abortion pills work up into the tenth week of pregnancy:

Oh, I didn't know that. Thanks.
