I'm curious about something and have some questions.

I’m curious to know if I’m the only paranormal investigator (“ghost hunter”) on this forum.

I've spent over a year on this forum sharing stories about my years of experiences as a psychic medium and paranormal investigator (with 43 years of experience as a medium and 15 1/2 years as a practicing medium and paranormal investigator). I've started several threads about my recent paranormal investigations, and I've shared many stories about my experiences as a medium in both my own and other people's threads. I haven't simply stated in my threads or other threads that I'm a medium and a paranormal investigator or that I believe in the paranormal. I've backed up my claims many times with detailed personal accounts of my experiences as a medium, as well as with visual SLS images, EMF readings, and specific details about my investigations.

Having said all of that, I'd like to ask the following questions: (1) How many people on this forum who doubt the existence of earthbound human spirits, nonhuman entities, or anything else that could possibly be paranormal have personally investigated a haunting or anything else paranormal? (2) How many skeptics on this forum have taken the time to research and purchase the proper ghost-hunting gear, look for and research places they think might be haunted, go to a place they think might be haunted and do a thorough investigation there, and then spend hours and hours going over their collected data, such as digital photos, recorded videos, and EVP recordings on digital recorders or EVP recorders? (3) How many skeptics of the paranormal on this forum have spent their time and energy honestly seeking answers at a suspected haunted location, whether the haunting is residual, intelligent, poltergeist, or potentially sinister, rather than posting on this forum that they don't believe in human spirits or nonhuman entities because those who claim to believe in them haven't given enough evidence to satisfy the skeptics? I wouldn't necessarily say, "Put your money where your mouth is," but the idea is the same.

Based on my fifteen and a half years of personal experience as a practicing medium and paranormal investigator, I am more than convinced that "seeing is believing," even for the most adamant skeptic of the paranormal. I've been posting about my experiences as a medium and paranormal investigator in my own threads and in many others for over a year, and yet there are skeptics who still don't believe in the paranormal. Personally, I don't believe that any amount of my personal stories, visual images from my investigation, or even random articles about a haunting will ever persuade even the most ardent skeptic that the paranormal is real or that my mediumship is real. I do, however, believe that seeing is believing, and if one of these skeptics thoroughly investigated a suspected haunting for themselves, they may change their minds and begin to believe. Of course, I can't say that for certain because spirits are often unpredictable, and they rarely perform on command, especially when the paranormal investigators are very rude and disrespectful to them.

Spirits don't always respond to a polite request to make their presence known to the living, and they certainly don't like provocation, as seen on some paranormal shows. It usually does not end well for the untrained or arrogant paranormal investigators who provoke the spirits in order to elicit a response. I don't feel sorry for the rude investigators who get the desired response and then flee the building screaming like little girls, terrified of the spirits they have just provoked. As a paranormal investigator who has traveled across the country to various haunted locations, I've been to well-known haunted locations where the spirits refused to communicate with or interact with me or with the other paranormal investigators present. On the other hand, I've visited places that weren't previously known to be haunted, and I've been bombarded with poltergeist activity. To thoroughly investigate a haunted location, it takes a lot of patience and many hours of dedicated investigation. Most paranormal investigators will leave a location empty-handed, but other times they're able to collect a lot of evidence of a haunting. Finally, if you're one of the people on this forum who believes in the paranormal (i.e., earthbound human spirits, nonhuman entities, and anything else paranormal), but you haven’t investigated the paranormal, then why do you believe?

As you’ve said, spirits might not even respond if I had purchased all of that equipment; went through the time and effort of finding a location, studying proper ghost hunting techniques, planning on the travel, and actually doing it. And why would I do all of that for something I not only don’t believe in, but something that’s existence is impossible according to my physicalist beliefs of the world?

If a ghost ever wants to get my attention it knows where to find me. Hopefully it can do better than tapping on the wall in the other room when I’m half asleep.

I am a skeptic. I have been on paranormal investigations. I have interacted with many alleged psychics. I still don’t believe.

I have no idea how many more there are on RF with similar experience to mine. But, to answer you, there is at least one person on RF.

I am a sceptic as well and have done nothing in regard to trying to investigate these things and in general know very little about it.

Yes, there are spirits who won't respond, but there are also spirits who will. Even if I weren't a psychic medium, I'm sure I'd be curious about and want to investigate the paranormal. I believe it'd be worth the time, effort, and money I'd expend in the hope of capturing something. But that's probably just me.

As I've told others, sometimes you just have to be in the right place at the right time to witness something paranormal. That was certainly true for my husband, who has now had two personal experiences with the paranormal after years of not having any. He is now a genuine believer in the paranormal.

But if you didn’t believe they existed you would not have the hope of capturing something :p

I haven't seen any theory as to how a spirit could be visible to a camera or audible to a recorder, or cause objects to move, or affect ambient temperatures, or generate sounds, yet be regarded as immaterial.

I remain open to evidence, but extraordinary claims require remarkably good demonstration. I've seen none. Can you point me to any?

Perhaps. And I certainly don’t mind going on investigations with people I know in that field, but I never expect anything more than some time spent with good people (the alive ones).

Fair enough. What if you had a personal "paranormal" experience that you couldn't explain?
It depends on the severity of the paranormal experience. If the experience was convincing enough I would accept the existence of the paranormal, but I don’t think I would have much interest in going on ghost adventures, at least not organizing them myself.

I could provide you a link with multiple photographs, such as this one here, but I don't think any of the photos will convince you. I could be mistaken, but I get the impression you've already decided not to believe. As I previously stated, I don't post on RF about my experiences in order to persuade skeptics to believe in the paranormal. I post about my experiences so that others can get a glimpse of what I see, hear, feel, and experience, as well as educate others about the paranormal. As far as I'm concerned, people can accept or reject what I say about my experiences with the paranormal. It's their decision, and it doesn't bother me if they don't believe. As I said in my OP, I've been posting about my experiences as a medium and paranormal investigator in my own threads and in many others for over a year, and yet there are skeptics who still don't believe in the paranormal. Personally, I don't believe that any amount of my personal stories, visual images from my investigation, or even random articles about a haunting will ever persuade even the most ardent skeptic that the paranormal is real or that my mediumship is real. I do firmly believe that seeing is believing, and if one of these skeptics thoroughly investigated a suspected haunting for themselves, they may change their minds and begin to believe. Of course, I can't say for certain, but that is my personal opinion.

That, in my opinion, is a reasonable response.

I had a friend once, a hardcore materialist. Any mention of religion, the supernatural etc would infuriate him. I once asked "what if he saw the ghost of a friend of ours" who had died a few years ago? He said that it was evidence of being "mentally ill."
Some people are very difficult to persuade when their belief system is, or so it seems, as much a 'faith' as that which they hate.

as I was several times when that TV turned on for no reason that could be explained by a malfunction in the electronics or cable box, but those have been the only paranormal experiences that I have had. Lately I have wished it would happen again but it hasn't.

This depends what's meant by "personally investigated." It sounds like you mean "go to a supposedly haunted place and look for ghosts." I've done none of that, for exactly the same reason I haven't gone looking for Bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monster or alien spaceships. If I thought there was a good chance I'd find something, and I had sufficient time and money, who wouldn't? I'd love to get myself a Nobel by being the first person to conclusively demonstrate the existence of ghosts to the world. But I don't think that's likely, so I haven't gone there.
I haven't, because I have no idea what "proper ghost hunting gear" is, or who determines that and how. How does one determine that an instrument is detecting a dead person's spirit and not some other phenomena?

(3) How many skeptics of the paranormal on this forum have spent their time and energy honestly seeking answers at a suspected haunted location, whether the haunting is residual, intelligent, poltergeist, or potentially sinister, rather than posting on this forum that they don't believe in human spirits or nonhuman entities because those who claim to believe in them haven't given enough evidence to satisfy the skeptics? Same as above.

Rather than attempt to convince random skeptics on the internet, who you should be trying to convince, if anyone, are professional scientists. That would be revolutionary.

As an agnostic, I don't actively disbelieve, but I can only say in all honesty that I have personally never witnessed anything that I could consider to be paranormal or spiritual.

I think I told you my grandfather has seen ghosts, and my father also said he saw a departed uncle while on his death bed (though I and my brother didn't see anything). I don't believe either of them are lying. My father especially so, since he was an engineer and very rational and down-to-earth about most things.

I don't know anything about ghost-hunting gear. My view is that, if there are spirits or ghosts out there, they don't bother me, and there doesn't seem to be anything I can do about it anyway.
