G20 Colonial mentality and climate change

India and China are no longer "Developing Countries".They have the worlds most powerful and up to date armies air force and navies. They send and will send satellites and manned missions to the moon. They have nuclear capability.Their capitals infra structure is modern and eclipses many smaller countries in the West.

The West's colonial mentality that they are incapable of financing green agenda's without Western money may be wrong. With a expanding middle class India and China citizens can easily put savings and pensions funds in green agenda's that will benefit.

India and China are to shy when it comes to helping the poor countries. They need to pitch in with the heavy lifting. The argument that historically the West was responsible for global warming and should pay for everything is plainly dumb.Especially as major major emitters will be India and China.True their national debts are high.True the USA and Europe's debts are also to high.

Do you think the West has a Colonial mentality when it assumes India and China cannot take their rightful place in furthering a green agenda. The Middle class in India and China can pay more tax as will the West to fund the green agenda worldwide.

ps Russia Russia why are you so quiet on contributing to India and China.

It's more because they, China and India, don't seem to care or want to. They're more bothered about their economies and industries.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
China is a totalitarian regime.

India is heavily regulated.

I'm sure as mentioned. They have little or no interest aside from their own agenda.

As far as global warming goes India and China both signed the Paris Climate Accords --then again many argued that the accords represented a massive giveaway to those countries. It's virtually impossible to separate fact from fiction w/ political issues and much of global warming is politics.

However in terms of economics China and India are below world averages of gross domestic product percapita. They're poor. Sure they got stuff like nukes and a big army but they're big nations and it's not costing their citizens as much.

Yep GDP'S are low. However Africa,Asia have a mix of very rich, middle income and poor. The first two need to contribute. They should invest pension funds and savings in green schemes as it will give a good return,It will make them feel good rather than passively accepting condescending aid from the West.If all countries in Africa,Asia and USA/Europe develop their own green national agenda using local taxes cumulatively it will help against global warming.

As far as I know, the green agenda is not cost effective right now, and there are a lot of poor people in China and India. Why would they spend a lot of money to help people in the future when they are not even willing to spend all they can to help people in need in their very own countries right now?

OK, let's set aside any questions of scientific validity of this climate issue and focus on the political realities. On what international treaty/accord would payments be based and calculated?

None. America first,Russia first,India first,China first,Kenya first etc. Each country would invest its citizens taxes, pension contributions and savings it its own solar, wind power.Tis will develop thier own infra structure.Politicians will buy in as it equals votes.Reality is voters are NOT interested in paying taxes for other countries in a cost of living crisis where they have no jobs poor health care or food. This applies to parts of the USA.
Nothing is really happening now.USA promises a lot and gives a little.Russia promises nothing and gives nothing.Europe promises a little and gives a little (to poorer countries). So much for the green agenda.
