When was "the Messiah" first mentioned in scripture?

The revolution of David from murderer, adulterer, bandit, and insurrectionist to become the "beloved of God" is testimony to the power of the ensuing Davidic dynasty. It is absolutely amazing what they achieved. On top of that, Joseph might have been a member of the Davidic dynasty, but he was not Jesus' father (so the Gospel writers tell us).

More excellent and thorough writing on the development of the expectations of a Jewish Messiah. This comprehensive presentation gives us a window into what an incarnate Son of God was confronted with in the times of his bestowal mission. Jesus realized that he could never be the Jewish Messiah based on the expectations of his day. Conceptually speaking the closest he could get was the "Son of Man" as depicted in the book of Enoch, so that's the tittle he chose.

To all,
our brother and prophet Jacob, not only foretold the Messiah coming, but also of the NEW COVENANT that was to come in change of Priesthood. also, the foal, or the ***'s colt, it's mother to come. Matthew 21:4 "All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying," Matthew 21:5 "Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ***, and a colt the foal of an ***." Matthew 21:6 "And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them, "Matthew 21:7 "And brought the ***, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon." so why bring both, the *** and it's colt? the Lord Jesus could only ride ONE. John 12:12 "On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,"
John 12:13 "Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord."
John 12:14 "And Jesus, when he had found a young ***, sat thereon; as it is written," John 12:15 "Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ***'s colt." so, he sat on ONE, the CHOICE VINE, the REMMENT, or the CHOSEN ONE'S, (the Church), reflected in the NEW Colt, or the NEW COVENANT.

the daughters of Sion? yes,
Obadiah was very clear,1:17 "But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions." the HOUSE of JACOB? Yes, Jeremiah 31:31 "Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:" THIS IS LIKE READING A NEWS PAPER FROM YESTERDAY

THE DELIVERANCE OF THIS KING, (which is a Spiritual deliverance)
Joel 2:32 "And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call." JEWS AND GENTILES.

the remnant whom the LORD shall call? answer, Acts 2:38 "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." Acts 2:39 "For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call." Acts 2:40 "And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation."

the GATHERING of the PEOPLE is in him, the Christ.
scripture, Genesis 49:11a "Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ***'s colt unto the choice vine" the vine here is Judah, and the Choice vine is the Remnant. for the Christ sprang "OUT" of Judah, and NOT "FROM" Judah, supportive scripture, Hebrews 7:14 "For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood." this NEW PRIESTHOOD is a Royal Nations of Priests.

so this prophecy of Jacob covers the SALVATION of Both the Jews and the Gentiles. binding, (what was premised in Genesis chapter 3 by God himself) BINDING his foal to the CHOICE VINE, or his CHOSEN PEOPLE the CHURCH.
the term Binding: (of an agreement or promise) involving an obligation that cannot be broken.

WOW! "your paper" ??? Thats a massive amount of material! Well done! Lots of valid points! If all true, that should pretty much obliterate anyone's faith in God! LoL!

IMOP Both Judaism and Christianity are evolved religions born out of real revelations. The problem with the Bible is that some of its true!

I'm a student of the Urantia Book 1909-1934, printed 1955 which is very familiar with many of the points and personal views contained in your papers.

The Evolutionary Nature of Religion
92:1.1 (1003.6) "The evolution of religion has been traced from early fear and ghosts down through many successive stages of development, including those efforts first to coerce and then to cajole the spirits. Tribal fetishes grew into totems and tribal gods; magic formulas became modern prayers. Circumcision, at first a sacrifice, became a hygienic procedure.

92:1.2 (1003.7) Religion progressed from nature worship up through ghost worship to fetishism throughout the savage childhood of the races. With the dawn of civilization the human race espoused the more mystic and symbolic beliefs, while now, with approaching maturity, mankind is ripening for the appreciation of real religion, even a beginning of the revelation of truth itself.

92:1.3 (1004.1) Religion arises as a biologic reaction of mind to spiritual beliefs and the environment; it is the last thing to perish or change in a race. Religion is society’s adjustment, in any age, to that which is mysterious. As a social institution it embraces rites, symbols, cults, scriptures, altars, shrines, and temples. Holy water, relics, fetishes, charms, vestments, bells, drums, and priesthoods are common to all religions. And it is impossible entirely to divorce purely evolved religion from either magic or sorcery.

92:1.4 (1004.2) Mystery and power have always stimulated religious feelings and fears, while emotion has ever functioned as a powerful conditioning factor in their development. Fear has always been the basic religious stimulus. Fear fashions the gods of evolutionary religion and motivates the religious ritual of the primitive believers. As civilization advances, fear becomes modified by reverence, admiration, respect, and sympathy and is then further conditioned by remorse and repentance.

92:1.5 (1004.3) One Asiatic people taught that “God is a great fear”; that is the outgrowth of purely evolutionary religion. Jesus, the revelation of the highest type of religious living, proclaimed that “God is love.” UB 1955 no copyrite.
Religion relies on people's superstitions and fears, and it provides opportunities for people to take advantage of the susceptible, preying on their minds, lives, and wallets. people only "believe"; they do not have external objective evidence.
I treat the Bibles as witnesses to how people thought, how they lived, and how the religious leaders invoked their Gods to get people to bow to their instructions. So what we read are the propaganda of the minority sects that were able to read and to write. For that reason, the literature ("Scriptures" was regularly "updated" to meet the local current needs of the authors, the religious leaders.
Their total aim at each stage was their own immediate community. Noting this helps one manage today's religious influencers.

Keep in mind that the First Century authors misused and misrepresented the Scriptures for their own benefit. Narratives were turned into prophecies; words were amended to make them fit their intended conclusions. Read the original contexts, because "a text without a context is the pretext for a proof text". Red flags fly when someone uses the "proof text" method.

Religion relies on people's superstitions and fears,
.
Thats true of primitive evolved religion which by design is the stimulant or precursor for the reception of revealed religion on an evolutionary world. There may be false and insincere teachers, shamans and holy men, but the majority of religious people are sincerely searching for God and do find God as a subjective experience. We are supposed to be having a faith experience!

"The exquisite and transcendent experience of loving and being loved is not just a psychic illusion because it is so purely subjective. The one truly divine and objective reality that is associated with mortal beings, the Thought Adjuster (I will put my pure spirit within thee) functions to human observation apparently as an exclusively subjective phenomenon. Man's contact with the highest objective reality, God, is only through the purely subjective experience of knowing him, of worshiping him, of realizing sonship with him." UB 1955 I added the bold text

The existence of religion, love, morals ethics etc. can be said to be the objective proof of mans subjective experience with that spirit of truth that we call God.

GINOLJC, to all.
thanks for the reply, but let's not used unwise men as an excuse for the TRUTH already written by God. yes, some men, NOT ALL, has used the Word of God for their own profit, not only First Century authors, but authors today and NOW. this is why we must, and have to, let the Holy Spirit GUIDE us, and not ungodly men. if it's not of God, don't write, nor speak.

Read the original contexts
Even reading the original manuscripts without the Holy Spirit is unwise.
God kno ws what he has written, let him teach you. of a NOTE: God uses men and Women to speak his words, and not theirs, you will know them when they speak for they will speak with SCRIPTURE, and if one is still unsure..... then U go to God to confirm it or not.

so, 101G will hear anyone out, just provide scripture to back-up what you're saying. that's all. and leave it in God's hands because he will never lead us astray.

the Lord Jesus is the Messiah that was to Come. and he was to ESTABLISH an "EVERLASTING" Covenant with his people.

how do 101G know this. just go back to what Jacob/Israel said to his son Judah. Genesis 49:11 "Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ***'s colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes:"

in this word BINDING, which means, as an adjective, (of an agreement or promise) involving an obligation that cannot be broken.
an agreement, or ..... "PROMISE", yes, like the PROMISE of the HOLY SPIRIT that was given, or poured out on the day of Pentecost. which he, God, JESUS is BINDING with his people, MEANING FOR-EVER. supportive scripture, John 14:16 "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;"

for ever, is BINGING. and this for-ever is the same as "EVERLASTING", as in EVERLASTING FATHER, according to Isaiah 9:6. this the Lord Jesus, revealed as the TRUE VINE, and his Church.

and one other thing, this binding of himself to the choice vine, exposes a false doctrine of those who say, "one can lose their salvation". meaning those who say once save always saved is in ERROR. well no. for the term BINDING states, (of an agreement or promise) involving an obligation that cannot be broken. if it cannot be broken, then it's EVERLASTING, meaning once saved is always saved. as the definition states, "involving an obligation that cannot be broken." if your salvation CANNOT BE BROKEN, then you cannot lose it.

and since the Contract, or testament cannot be broken, notice, not by either party. meaning you cannot break it as they did with the First covenant. Jeremiah 31:31 "Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:" Jeremiah 31:32 "Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:"
so, we broke the first covenant. but this new covenant we cannot break, NOR GOD HIMSELF,,,,,, for it is BINDING, and God keep his word.

so the mention of the Messiah is in his BINDING COVENANT which is EVERLASTING, and he is the Father of.

as well as the KING, for Isaiah 9:7 states, Isaiah 9:7 "Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this."

No END, EVEN for EVER.... yes, that's that BINDING Covenant fir ever, no end to it. Glory to God.

This is where the whole house of fraudulent cards come down. Jewish eschatology as written in the OT - by the undisputed experts on the attributes of the Messiah - told us quite clearly that actual Messianic prophesy does not include anything Matthew wrote - and indeed does not mention a word about a virgin birth, a crucifixion, a resurrection, a birth in Bethlehem, or any divine qualities. It's precisely why the experts rejected Jesus. The dishonest gospel authors knew they were just making it up as they went along..... decades after the alleged 'facts'. It's disgraceful that Christians would be such willing dupes to this multi trillion dollar scam. :fearscream:

The Messiah envisioned by these so called “experts” never materialized. They became false prophets.

The Son of God incarnate as the "son of man" was his own authority. He didn’t rely on the scriptures of Judaism for his authority. The original good news or Gospel was the basis of a new movement. His followers failed to head the warning ⛔️ about adding the old to the new.

Scriptures are just the writings of preachers converted into the “Word of God” by presumptive religious authority for purposes of control. Anything new must be warped to conformity in order to be accepted…….or else they nail you to a tree!

A quick note. In 49:11 the Hebrew word is not "binding" nor is it a word that can be used as an adjective in the phrase you equate it with. If you premise your argument on a flawed understanding, you end with a false conclusion.

first thanks for your reply, second, that's your opinion. for many people, the word "adjective" refers only to descriptive adjectives. The rise of the term "determiner" means that we now have nine parts of speech, not the traditional eight.

In English grammar, a determiner is a word or a group of words that specifies, identifies, or quantifies the noun or noun phrase that follows it. It is also known as a prenominal modifier . Basically, determiners come at the start of a noun phrase and tell more about what comes after it (or them, in the case of a phrase that has more than one determiner before the noun).

Binding ...... what? his his foal unto the vine. and what else? and his ***'s colt unto the choice vine. BINGO.

again, thanks for the reply, but try again.

No, it isn't my opinion. It has to do with the specific Hebrew word אֹסְרִ֤י . The word is more closely related to "imprison" or "chain" and is a verb in 49:11. Knowing the word would make it clear to you that it isn't used as an adjective in the phrase you invoked. This is not a matter of opinion. You needn't try to lecture me on grammar. I fairly well versed on the topic. You might want to spend some time learning a little bit of Hebrew before you make claims about its use of words. Or you could just trust your inferior translations and keep copying and pasting (without attribution, no less) explanations of English grammar that are irrelevant to the issue at hand.

@rosends,
since you want to used the Hebrew your way why not God's WAY. according to the AHLB, (the Ancient Hebrew Lexicon of the Bible). The pictograph is a picture of a thorn representing a turning, and the picture of a head. Combined these mean "turn the head". The turning of the head to another direction. One who rules turns the people to his direction. The turning the head of the child or student into a particular direction.

in the coming Messiah, he RULES, which is Jesus Christ. supportive scripture, the RULER WHO IS TURNING the people heads is clearly see in Matthew 2:6 "And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel."

there is that RULER to Come, Messiah, the Christ. NOW THE "TURNING OF THE PEOPLE". First the OT. Malachi 4:5 "Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:" Malachi 4:6 "And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse."

who is this Elijah to come? answer John the Baptist. Luke 1:11 "And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense." Luke 1:12 "And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him." Luke 1:13 "But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John." Luke 1:14 "And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth." Luke 1:15 "For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb." Luke 1:16 "And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God." Luke 1:17 "And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord."

there is the TURNING.

now REVELATION TIME. what is another word for turning? answer, REPENTANCE, and what was the First word out of Elijah/John's MOUTH? Matthew 3:2 "And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Matthew 3:3 "For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight."

REVELATION #2. the voice crying in the wilderness? where was this at in the OT, answer, Isaiah 40:3 "The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.". now hold your hats on your head, what did Malachi say by God concerning the one crying in the wilderness who is the Elijah to come? LISTEN, 4:5 "Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:" Malachi 4:6 "And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse." THIS IS AN EXACT QUOTE FOUND IN Luke 1:17 "And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord." BINGO, the OT has confirmed the NEW TESTAMENT,

Now the sum of the Matter, what did Malachi say?3:1 "Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts."

MY God, the MESSENGER OF THE NEW COVENANT IS Shiloh Jesus the Christ.

the NEW COVENANT IS "REPENTANCES" THE TURNNING OF THE HEAD. just as the AHLB states.

NOW A REVELATION FOR MY JEWISH BROTHER AND SISTERS. the
Messiah, or the Christ, "Shiloh" who is to come is .... drum roll .... "GOD". and this is from your OT bible the Tanakh. LISTEN and LEARN, Isaiah 40:3 "The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God." our GOD? Deuteronomy 6:4 "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:"

that was hilarious. You completely abandoned the point you had been making and focused on something else fanciful, making a series of arbitrary connections because they advance some mysterious reading you impose on various texts. It is clear you don't know Hebrew. That's fine. You then introduce "the pictograph" as if there is a specific pictograph as part of the discussion and play word association and inference games to try and connect unrelated ideas by means of the similarities of ideas called forth by your translations of choice. You should read Klein's dictionary (or even, dare I suggest, Clark's) if you want to comment on Hebrew. And if you want to focus on your pictograph list, maybe look at the language of origin of the word involved. You seem fixated on an Aramaic word and ignore the Hebrew one which is weird for a verse not written in Aramaic. This is all so many steps removed from the reality of the text as to be laughable. Good work. The world needs a clown.

that was hilarious.
(smile) ...... lol, "to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?. ........ :D YIKES!

from now on when you try to use the Hebrew language, 101G will call it, "YOUR HEBREW". .... (smile).

good day.

to all,
Knowing that the New Covenant was Made by Yeshua/Jesus, and the Elijah to come was his forerunner, John the Baptist. this only enforces who are the two witnesses of Revelation 11. which I have always said are John the Baptist, and Shiloh, Jesus the Christ. and now confirmed without a doubt, from the OT as well.

the bible is getting smaller and smaller every day, meaning more revelation are being made daily. a better understanding of God Holy Word.

Romans 15:4 "For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope."

You just quoted Corinthians to an Orthodox Jew. I will be sure to call it "your foolishness" and "your ignorance".

I have loads of scripture. Some you have heard of, some not. None of it mentions Jesus.
