Bread with bread

I just discovered this:

WHY IS THIS A THING???

The Talmud refers a number of times in mocking fashion to a Babylonian custom of eating bread with bread. This custom is the basis of the Talmudic Jewish expression "הני בבלאי טיפשאי דאכלי נהמא בנהמא" - "Those stupid Babylonians that eat bread with bread". It never occurred to me that someone 1300 years later would still consider this a "dish".

In case you're wondering how I came by this "dish" (I'm sorry, I really can't consider something like this an actual dish), it was via the following video (starting from 1:50):

Never had toast on bread but. I sometimes like to toast one side of the bread, butter the toasted side and slap 2 pieces together. Soft and warm outside with a toasted centre.

Also good with cheddar cheese as a filling

We'll take two slices of bread, butter on one side each, a slice of cheese in-between (I prefer pepper jack), and then pan fry it. Often served alongside tomato soup.

Sometimes we'll add a slice of fried bologna as well.
